A dear friend had suddenly passed away. Her name was Edie. She and another friend had planned a birthday party for a couple of other of our mutual friends. At the party, which took place in an old, run down farm house, I was talking to my best friend, Lois. I told her the following true story:
"A few years ago, I had lost my wedding ring on the rocks near the ocean in front of our house. I know I lost my ring, because I remember my purse strap playing around my ring finger as I was climbing down to watch my husband dive for abalone. Also, I had been breaking up hamburger for spaghetti with my hands when my husband asked if I wanted to go down to the beach with him. I never removed my ring for any reason.
When we returned to the house I discovered my ring was missing from my finger. I just knew I had lost it on the beach; that it had slipped from my finger because of my purse strap and due to the fact that my finger was still slippery from the hamburger fat. We took our metal detector to the beach, but could not find the ring.
8 years later, my husband found the ring in the corner of the drawer of the bedside table. The drawer contained old pictures of my relatives, and some other old memorabilia. We couldn't believe the ring wound up there!
Then, about a year ago, my husband purchased a money order which some school children bought for the state park in which he works. (He is a ranger). It was in a manila envelope. It sat on his dresser for a few days, and then he couldn't find it when he needed it. He accused me of tossing it out during a cleaning frenzy. I wasn't sure if I did or not. About a month ago, I decided to go through a bag full of old letters, from old boyfriends and high school girlfriends. I hadn't touched that bag for years. As I was going through it, I discovered a manila envelope. Inside was the money order!"
At the very instant I completed this story to Lois, she suddenly looked down into her hand. There she found an earring she had been looking for, for some time! She was dumbfounded. So was I. I asked her if it could have fallen from her clothing or hair. She said it felt as if it fell from some height.
My first though was that Edie did it. Her husband was at the party, and she should have been at the party too. I am still searching for explanations. All of this can be verified by other people.
