The Ghost of a 200 year old house Story:- 1 2 3 4 5

We moved into a house in the country that badly needed renovations. (I was 10 years old at the time). It still had Victorian wiring and had a wood burning stove still. My parents hired a contractor to rewire the house. One day, a couple of contractors were underneath the house, (There were crawlways etc). All the sudden, one of the Workmen came running out of the trapdoor (In the Study), screaming that he had seen something down there, but would not go into detail as to why. That day, the contractor broke the contract and refused to work there anymore. In fact, none of the contractors in the area would work. We had to go out of way to find someone to help us. To this day, we don not know what he found under there. None of the other contractors we hired found anything including where the workman saw something.

The house also had cold spots that sometime moved and footsteps were heard upstairs all the time, when there wasn't anyone. Even our electrician at the time heard them and him and my dad would investigate without finding anything.

I was the only one who actually saw the ghost, though. One night, I was lying on my back in bed, slowly drifting off. I opened my eyes I saw a head of an old sad man looking down at me. He had a blue tone around him. He didn't do anything but stare at me. I was so scared, it took me ages before I could scream. When I did, he disappeared. The scary thing was he was looking directly into my eyes. I never went into that room again at night, and in fact, my bed had to moved to another room.

Years later, (after we sold it), my dad finally told me the story of the previous owner. He went to the local newspaper and asked them who the owner was. Apprantly, an old man and his wife lived there, and one day his wife died, of cancer I think. He was so remorsed about it he took a shotgun and shot himself in the head. The house had stayed deserted ever since. The house was at least 200 years old. My grandfather also use to mention about seeing children in the house too
