An Brief Introduction to My Little Ponies.
What are My Little Ponies?
My Little Ponies are a series of ponies that were aimed for younger children. They started with a pony series called My Pretty Pony. They were very much successful, in fact there was a craze in 1983 here in the UK, and during the 1980/1990s, there were only 3 years when there was no more new ponies. A movie was made, as well as 2 companies making TV series. There were over 1,000 ponies made.
What years were these ponies made?
I am only talking about the USA/UK Markets, as these are the only ones I know of.
1981-1982 (referred to as the Year 1 ponies, and also as the "My Pretty Pony Years")
1982-1983 (referred to as the Year 2 ponies)
1983-1984 (referred to as the Year 3 ponies)
1984-1985 (referred to as the Year 4 ponies)
1985-1986 (referred to as the Year 5 ponies)
1986-1987 (referred to as the Year 6 ponies)
1987-1988 (referred to as the Year 7 ponies)
1988-1989 (referred to as the Year 8 ponies)
1989-1990 (referred to as the Year 9 ponies)
1990-1991 (referred to as the Year 10 ponies)
Now this is where it gets confusing. MLP were stopped being produced in the USA in 1991, however they were continuing in other countries.
1991-1992 (referred to as the Year 11 ponies)
1992-1993 (referred to as the Year 12 ponies)
1993-1994 (referred to as the Year 13 ponies)
In 1994 it was made to sadly make no more My Little Ponies for the UK market. But they carried it until 1995. However they came back.
1997-1998 - both the USA and the UK had "My Little Ponies". However in the autumn (fall) of 1998, it was sadly again to stop producing My Little Pony. This is also referred to as the Year 15 ponies.
1998-1999 - this continued in the UK until in 1999 it was also agreed to stop producing My Little Pony for the UK markets. This is referred to as the Year 16 ponies.
1999-2000 and beyond!!! My Little Pony is still being produced in other countries, however there is an amount of uncertainty how long this will continue.
Which company made My Little Pony?
Hasbro. In some cases Hasbro has been written different, see FAQ. Also, the ponies were tried to be copied, most noticeably by Remco and Lenard as well as other companies.

The pony on the left is a fake made by Lenard. The pony on the right is a true pony named Apple Delight.
