Uranus�s transits generally bring sudden, unexpected, and dynamic occurrences in one�s life. Uranus�s task is to challenge the rigid structures that you have built up around yourself throughout your life. The impact on you from this transit is directly related to your ability to deal with change. Life show be a dynamic endeavor, not a ridged static experience. Uranus spends approximately seven years in each house, and during each house�s transit, works to disrupt rigidity of behavior and thought in the area of the house�s influence.
Uranus through the houses
Uranus in the first house creates within you the need to change the way you interact with the outside world. You will no longer be content to act in a role that has become static and unfulfilling to you. Others will react to your changes, often in a negative way, because we dislike change in our friends only slightly less than change in ourselves.
Relationships of all kinds will be challenged by this transit, because you will be changing and the other individuals will be threatened by your changes. A good relationship that allows you the freedom to truly express yourself will stand, but any relationships that require you to stay in your previous role will self-destruct.
What ever you do during this transit, you can bet that it will provide experiences unlike anything you have gone through before. This is an excellent time for studying subjects that provide new and different insights to yourself and the world.
If you try and remain static in your behaviors and thoughts, you will undergo many sudden and to you upsetting experiences. Uranus will have its way, your only option is to accept the changes and grow, or to ride a very exciting and upsetting rollercoaster for seven years.
Uranus transits through your second house will bring major changes in your financial and material situation. If you can, while Uranus is still transiting your first house, prepare for the second house transit by getting your financial house in order. This transit works on both your internal values and your external possessions. If your values reflect a great deal of materialism, you will need to rethink them during this transit. If you don�t Uranus will provide you with opportunities that will force you to look closely at your values. These will usually be unpleasant to experiences, but when challenging our core values, Uranus can be extremely disruptive.
Externally, our material resources can undergo great and sudden changes for the better or worse depending upon how attached we are to them. This transit effects your all parts of your life that tie you to the material side of your life. You can be sure that after this transit, your whole life will have changed significantly. The ultimate effects of the transit is to free you from your material attachments, so that you can continue to grow as an individual.
Uranus�s transits through your third house will focus on that part of your life that has provided reliability and predictability, your day to day activities and relationships. During this transit Uranus will work to change your view of the day-to-day world, your daily habits and the way you communicate to others.
If you are involved with intellectual subjects, this will be an exciting time for you. You will be able to see things that you have completely missed up until now. Your mind will become more open to new insights, and old habits of viewing the world will fall away.
Your routine everyday communication with others will become much more intense and important to you. Mental flexibility is essential during this transit, because your old world view will not serve you any longer. If you try to retain the old view, you will experience great and sudden disruptions to your life that will leave you feeling that nothing in life is secure for you any more. And in fact, your old views and habits will not provide you the security that they once did, its time to take a fresh look at your day to day world and how you communicate with it.
Uranus transiting your fourth continues the changes that the third house transit started. Your personal relationships and how you relate to them will become more important to you during this transit. It is common for you to change your total environment during this transit, moving away from the old to the new. Even in a marriage relationship, this transit can bring separation from your significant other.
Your fourth house areas, family, home, relationships form the base in life that we operate from. Our rock, so to speak. Because our security is so deeply tied with these things, this transit effects us to the very core of our being. Old ties with the past that have become ridge and act to tie us to past behaviors and beliefs must be broken in order for us to grow, and Uranus is just the planet to make that happen. If we can stay flexible and open to change, we can learn a great deal from this transit, if we try to hold on to the old outdated structures that we have become familiar with, Uranus will create havoc in our lives.
Problems and tensions from these areas of your life will resurface now, an you will be forced to deal with them. Many of us carry unfinished family problems with us throughout our life. Some childhood�s leave deep and dark scars that rather than deal with consciously, we bury in our subconscious. This transit acts to make us clean house and adjust our thinking and behavior to a more adult level. At the deepest level, this transit signifies deep changes in your subconscious mind, in turn changing our view of reality and the way we relate to it.
Uranus�s transits through the fifth house provides you with opportunities to express your new insights, gained during the fourth house transit, in creative ways. You will experience new and different activities in life. This may involve a new and rather unusual relationship with someone who will help to expand your view of the world. This relationship will be unlike any that you have encountered before.
After this transit you like Dorothy will say �we aren�t in Kansas anymore Todo�. Children, if you have any, will demand a great deal of your attention during this period. Their experiences will challenge your ability to give them the freedom that they want while still guiding their growth. You have a great deal of self-understanding that you can gain from watching them grow. During this transit you will be able to express your own creativity to a greater degree than ever before. Like other Uranus transits, but more strongly, this transit will provide you with rich opportunities to redefine yourself and your approach to life. Just stay as flexible as you can throughout the transit, and enjoy it.
Uranus transit�s through your sixth house brings your focus back to your attitude about work and your relationship to it. You will be feeling hedged in by the demands of others, particularly in your occupation, and you will feel the need to get free of these demands. During this transit you can make changes in this area of your life more easily. Even if you remain in the same job, you should look for opportunities to work in a different area with different responsibilities. Whatever your challenge, you must try to deal with it in a controlled and conscious manner. The danger in this transit is repressing the tension of being in a job that has become static and ridged. Such repression can create health problems that will force you to make the changes needed in your work.
Uranus�s transit through your seventh house can be extremely disruptive if you are locked into a ridged intimate relationship with someone that is no longer productive for either one of you. This transit will produce increased tensions in such relationships that they will often self-destruct. Even within the best relationships, changes will need to be made, clearing out negative behaviors and structures that have been built up over the years. This house also deals with enemies and your approach to them. During this transit, you should change the way you have dealt with them in the past.
Uranus energy is not difficult if expressed openly, only when suppressed will they create explosive events. In this transit your relationships are trying to teach you something about yourself and life, let them.
Uranus�s transit through your eighth house will refocus your attention from the conscious to the subconscious forces that are operating in your life. Through sudden unexpected events you will be forced to look at your life in new and startling ways. You will become aware of restrictions placed on you by yourself or others that have become intolerable now. What up until now has been change through evolution, now becomes change through revolution. The most dangerous aspect of this transit is that you may confuse obligations with restrictions. They are not the same thing. Obligations that you have made may are may not have a restricting influence on your life, but must be handled intelligently and ethically. Other restrictions that have been imposed on you by yourself, or by others that keep you from growth, should be thrown off.
Uranus�s ninth house transits create great opportunities for expanded awareness and new insights, if you are able to keep an open mind. Uranus will challenge any of your rigid world views during this transit. Since much of our world view springs from our subconscious programming, this transit can be very upsetting. This transit�s mandate is to make you aware of such wrong views, and give you opportunities to change them. If you remain closed to different views, Uranus will force you to deal with your wrong world view and the results that are caused by them. If however, you are open to new experiences, perceptions, and new ways of looking at the world, this can be an exciting period of your life, and productive in your growth.
Uranus transit�s through your tenth house brings about changes in your professional world, the way you express yourself to the world, and your social status. The effects of this transit on your job depend upon how well you have managed to position yourself in a job that is fulfilling. If you are in a job where you have worked hard, but lacked the appreciation that you deserved, this transit will bring it to you. If you are in a job but have not worked to improve yourself or become more productive, this transit will make you feel more repressed than ever. The transit doesn�t reward you undeservingly, only if you have earned it.
Often people who are in fields that no longer provide them with the challenges and growth experiences that they need, will suddenly change jobs during this transit. This may or may not be of their own choosing. Which ever the cause, if the new job offers them the stimulation and growth opportunities that they need, the transit�s effects can be quite positive. Such changes however often come with side effects, such as social status loss, that others will view negatively. Ignore them, such changes are either driven out of your conscious need to change what you are doing in life or repressed unconscious feelings about your present job and the effects that it has on you. The key is to examine who you are and what you are doing in the world. Then make whatever changes necessary, don�t wait for Uranus to force you to change.
Uranus�s transits through your eleventh house focuses your attention on yours and others lifestyles. You may feel that the lifestyle you have is no longer productive for you, and that a different one would provide more opportunities for growth. You will no longer settle for good enough, not if its not meeting your needs. Part of this change will involve new and different kinds of friendships. New friendships that will open up entirely new horizons for you.
Unspoken beliefs and expectations of groups you belong to may become restrictive to you during this transit. In a paradoxical way, you will strive to establish yourself as an individual within your groups. This may be manifested by rebelling within the group or leaving it altogether. This is actually one of the more favorable transits of Uranus, if you can remain open to new people and their ideas.
Uranus�s transits through your twelfth house are more subtle than the other houses, but just as important. Events now spring from your past actions or non-actions primarily unconscious ones. All the trash that you repressed during the transits through the last eleven houses gets drug up and aired here. Before starting on a new cycle of growth Uranus wants to make sure that you clean out those things that you have left undone. In effect this transit prepares you for your new cycle of self growth and experiences by cleaning house of the dust gathered there over the last cycle.
As mentioned earlier, Uranus moves through a house in approximately seven years. Therefore it cycles one complete time in approximately 84 years. Even today in our more health oriented society, many of us will not complete a full cycle, and depending on the time of your birth, you may start transiting in any of the twelve houses. For example, Uranus was in my fourth house at zero degrees Gemini at birth. I will be 83 when transiting Uranus conjuncts the natal Uranus. Why do some people start in the first house, and others in the fourth like me. This question leaves out the significance of Uranus in the natal chart. The natal Uranus�s placement, provides the starting point for our potential in this life, and from that point on, the transiting Uranus helps or forces us to unfold that potential.
Aspects and Uranus
Any transiting planet, including Uranus, serves to trigger inner psyche needs associated with the natal planet when aspects occur. To understand the transit�s effect, you must first understand the natal planet�s meaning in the natal chart by house location and sign. The transiting planet causes that need to be expressed in terms of the transiting house. There are however some general things that can be said about Uranus�s aspects to other planets.
Uranus square a natal planet often create events to challenge your expression of the natal planet�s energy. For example, Uranus square your natal sun causes you to question who you are and what you have become. At the vary least, the aspects makes you re-evaluate the way you are expressing yourself to the world. If you are truly doing what you need to be doing in expressing yourself, this will only strengthen your life. If on the other hand, you are not truly expressing who you are as a person, Uranus won�t let you get away with it.
Uranus Sextile or Trine a natal planet provide new and exiting opportunities to express the natal planet�s energy. These events unlike the house effects, offer opportunities, they don�t force you to make use of them. These aspects should be looked at as gifts from ourselves to ourselves in order to facilitate our own growth.
Uranus oppose a natal planet causes sudden and unexpected events to occur that will make you look at the house area in life effected by the natal planets energy. This aspect acts as a safety release for all of the pressures that you have built-up due to not expressing the natal planets energy.
And finally Uranus conjunct a natal planet provides sudden and possibly emotional turmoil that provide opportunities to make enormous positive psychological changes in the area of the natal planets energy.
Uranus�s aspects to itself.
For most people Uranus�s aspects to itself occurs pretty much at the same spacing throughout their life. Uranus squares it natal self at the age of 18 to 21 years. This for many of us is the time that we break away from old structures and go out to face the world. We may do this by leaving home, getting married, or going to school, but whatever the case, we change our environment to one where we can undergo new and different experiences.
Uranus moves into opposition with its natal self when we are between 38 and 40. The so called time of middle-age crisis for many of us. This often is a time of throwing off old structures and behaviors, and looking for ways to express yourself differently, and find those things that you feel your missing in your life. Many relationships end under this aspect because of the lack of flexibility that has built up over the years.
Uranus�s final (for most of us) square occurs when we are approximately 60 years old, the age of retirement for many. This square often leads to new a different ways of expressing oneself, through new hobbies, relationships, and even grandchildren. Some turn to new lifestyles that reflect their newer views of life, while others turn inward and look to draw out of their experiences answers to their questions on life. History is full of people who at this age took up a new way of expressing themselves and were very successful.
And finally if we are able at 84, we continue to grow and express ourselves in the world, Uranus finishes its cycle and starts into a new one.
