Saturn's Transits

The transits of Saturn, the teacher of the zodiac sole purpose is to continuously clean out the residue built up in the act of living and growing. It accomplishes this by forcing you to look at and test the areas that the houses represent. Although many people consider Saturns transits negatively, they are there because you need them in order to grow. Much like medicine that tastes bad, Saturn is good for you. The key to handling Saturn transits is releasing those things in your life that you have grown out of, or are harmful to your growth. Fighting Saturns energy, only makes it harder on yourself.

Saturn transiting your first house will force you to look closely at who you are as a person. Who you really are, not what others have tried to make you. Structures, beliefs, stereotypes, all come under scrutiny during this transit. You will not be the same person at the end of this transit that you were when you entered the first house. Relationships that have outgrown their usefulness or that have become static and unfulfilling will under go severe tests during this transit. If they withstand the transit, it will be because they have adapted and changed to better represent the type of relationship you need for the new 12 year cycle.

Saturn transiting your second house forces you to look at your values, and what is most important to you in your life. Your material, spiritual, and moral values will all be tested. Many old text refer to this transit as one involving material losses, but that is only true if you refuse to deal with these issues. Saturn has a way of getting your attention focused on the areas of your life where they need to be at that time. If you refuse to acknowledge reality, and continually live in denial, Saturn will just turn up the heat until you pay attention.

Saturn transiting your third house closes for a moment, the inward directed preparations started in the first house and carried through the third house. In this house you attention is directed to you mental patterns , beliefs, and habits. Those things that you do without knowing it, ways of perceiving others and yourself, and any prejudices you hold will all be tested in this transit. The object of these three houses is to make you aware of those things that have been controlling your life, force you to reevaluate them, and take control of your own life. When you start to deal with the issues brought up by this houses transit, communications with your intimate family become very important. Often they hold many of the keys to your questions, and your ability to communicate in a positive way, will determine the turmoil that results.

Saturn transiting the fourth house brings you to focus on your innermost personal and domestic life. In the last three houses you have been gathering data and now you must act on that data. Depending upon where you are in your growth, this may be only the reorganization of the way you live, or it may mean an ending of a relationship and a whole new beginning. In this house your job is to prepare yourself for going out in the world with as little baggage as possible. Anything you do now will be to make you independent of past, and allow you to present yourself to the outside world.

Saturn transiting your fifth house focuses your attention on how you present yourself to the world. This transit is one where you will have to work towards that goal constantly. Any roles that you are in, mother, father, bread winner, etc, will all make heavy demands on you during this transit. This house requires determination, organization, and discipline. While this is not a house that you will particularly enjoy, it is necessary to your growth as a social person.

Saturn in your sixth house brings even more hard work, in preparation for the seventh house transit where you will start to get the recognition and acknowledgement that you deserve. You will constantly be tested to see how effective you are at work, home, and other public positions. During this transit conserve your energies by being the most efficient that you can be in your professional work area. Later when the light shines on you, you wont have the opportunity to change you methods as much as you do now.

Saturns transit through the seventh house occurs about 14 years after Saturn entered you first house and culminates the process redefining your-self. Now you will begin a series of houses that will cause you to experience yourself through one-on-one encounters with others. You will encounter tests around your basic relationships. What expectations do the two of you have in a relationship. In the firth house you had to define yourself, in the seventh house you will have to define your relationships. Many relationships can not endure this transit, and even those that do, will have to deal with many troublesome issues. In the seventh house your focus switches from internal to external matters.

Saturn transiting the eighth house turns your focus to material things such as group finances and possessions. You must also come to terms with others values, and how to live with them without compromising your own values arrived at in your second house. During this transit you will also become concerned with your own mortality, what you will leave of yourself, and how you will be remembered.

Saturn transiting your ninth house prepares you for the tenth house where all of your efforts will be rewarded, and you will be at your peak of performance. This house offers a time to stabilize and fine-tune the skills that you have been learning. This is not the end of your growth however, so care must be taken to remain open to new information and experiences. Learning at this time should be done in a very pragmatic manner. This is not a time for abstractions, what you learn must be functional and practical.

Saturn transiting your 10th house brings a harvest from all the hard work that you have put in the last 21 years. Just remember, what you sew, so shell you reap. If you have diligent in your efforts and applied yourself to your tasks, then great achievements will be accomplished during this transit. If on the other hand, you have not learned from your tests, this period will not only not be very rewarding for you, it could bring everything you have down to ruin. During this transit you can perform and function at a level higher than anything that you have achieved so far. Your knowledge of self, and your understanding of relationships, will combine to allow you to shine like a star..

Saturn transiting your eleventh house focuses on the need to integrate your individual self with some type of group expression. During the tenth house transit you stood as an individual, now you must merge yourself into a group. You will be faced with cooperating with others in a cooperative manner. During this transit you will be able to better deal with those conflicts that arise when two or more strong willed people must work together to achieve a group goal. Friends will play a large part in this transit, often people that you never thought of as possible friends, will open up a whole new side of them to you. This is also a time for looking back over the time since Saturn crossed into your first house and seeing if you accomplished what you wanted too during that period. If you didnt and you have residue that you have been unable to clean out of your life that is holding you back, Saturns transit of your twelfth house will force you to clean house.

Saturn transiting your twelfth house clears the deck for new action when Saturn enters your first house again. This is a time for finishing up uncompleted work, and cleaning the cobwebs out of your life. Your growth during the last 18 or so years may have been great or small, but few if anybody can go through a whole cycle of Saturn without some growth. The question is how beat up our you from the trip. If your life was not what you wanted, if you didnt achieve recognition for your efforts, now is the time to get rid of the things that have held you back, before starting a new cycle. Its easy to despair and fill sorry for yourself, but keep in mind that you may have at least two more cycles of Saturn to get it right.
