Writing 1.Use the writing process to create clear texts in a variety of forms for many purposes. 2.Develop a paragraph that states topic sentence, and supporting sentences which contain simple facts, details, explanations and concluding statement that summarizes major points. 3.Take and organize notes in an organized manner. 4.Write reports using a research process that addresses key questions, exhibit an understanding of the topic by paraphrasing main ideas, facts, and details from various sources of information. 5.Conventions, Grammar and Usage- communicate using effective language conventions: grammar, usage and mechanics *Use simple and compound sentences. *Use commas in series, dates, location, and addresses. *Capitalize names of magazines, newspapers, etc. 6.Inquiry and Technology- investigate and respond to issues and problems using current and emerging technologies. *Use multiple resources- CD's, cassettes, computer programs, the Internet, and libraries selectively to research information. *Use selected information for a presentation using a variety of formats. *Recognize grade aggropriate legal/ethical behavior when using information and technology. |

Technology 1.Communication- develop an understanding of the characteristics, scope, and core concepts among technologies and the connections between technology and other fields of study. *connect people and technology *research innovation and invention *apply relevant academic studies *use creative thinking *identify and use resources 2. Students will create and print original work using the available electronic publishing tools. *students will produce signs, posters, simple reports, greeting cards, journals, and other age-appropriate output to demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively. 3.Students will use software or telecommunications to find and print information. *students will gather simple information from any of a variety of available electronic sources (software, CD-ROM's, the World Wide Web, VCR's, videodisks, etc.), as evidenced by electronically generated copy or handwritten notes derived from electronic sources. 4.In grades 4-6 especially, students will use computers and computer-related technologies to complete grade-level projects. *students will show evidence of using technology in preparing and presenting simple research projects in the content areas (electronically prepared hard copy, basic multimedia presentations, publishing software, graphics software, etc.) |
