The Association shall represent those individuals and communities not represented by other local civic organizations in an area in Fairfax County, Virginia, bounded by Fort Belvoir, the Potomac River, Little Hunting Creek and Route No. 1, being the area in which several of George Washington's farms were located.

The purposes of the Association shall be to promote the health, safety, and welfare of the residents, enhance the residential desirability, and preserve the historical character of Fairfax County in general and the Mount Vernon area in particular.

ARTICLE I - OBJECTIVES

a. To keep informed on the activities of the Fairfax County Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors and to bring to the attention of the membership matters affecting this area.
b. To discourage unfavorable zoning of properties in this area, and to encourage enforcing existing zones.
c. To insure that the views of the membership are properly represented and brought to the attention of the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.
d. To encourage the development of parks and recreational areas where land is presently available and to preserve the dignity of the historic Mount Vernon Area.
e. To interest ourselves in the expenditure of tax dollars by the County with the purpose of insuring a fair share for the Mount Vernon Area.
f. To encourage the improvement of educational facilities for children of this area.
g. To determine desired improvements and support them.
