Magick is a natural power. It is the combination of the idea, the will, and the motivation that galvanize the actuality. All possess it and all perform it all the time, but mostly without awareness and only half-heartedly. Often, a person will perform a small and incomplete magick, then reverse himself, all unknowingly. In unfortunate circumstances, a person of singular strength accidentally succeeds in sustaining his effort in a single-but-mistaken direction -- and brings a hellish fate upon himself. Stubbornly, he pushes at an unleverageable point, throwing ever more unaffordable effort at the aim, and does himself great damage. He eats himself alive. Magick, it is said, is easy to do. It is the not doing that is difficult. What you intended rarely poses so much difficulty as what you did not intend, yet did. Thus it is the task of the novice to not do.
