Here's a small dictionary I've made, containing many common EverQuest terms. It isn't anywhere near complete, though. Hopefully, I'll update it, but who knows how often I'll get around to doing something like that.

AE - n. Area Effect. Certain spells and songs are area effect, meaning that they have an effect on anything that wanders into their range. Most area effect spells and songs do not effect group members, however.

Carebear - n. 1. A server in EverQuest in which one can only engage in PvP through duels approved by both opponents, or by going into specific PvP arenas. You can also switch permanently into PvP mode on these servers by completing a quest. Generally, though, a player is perfectally capable of never having to engage in PvP, (all ways of PvP can be avoided if one desires), and can live without fear of being attacked by other players. Also referred to as "blue servers", due to the fact that on such servers, non-PvP charaters have their names in blue text. 2. A person who plays on such a server.

DE - n. A Dark Elf.

Exp - (xp) n. Experience received after fighting an NPC of the apporpriate level. Experience is what allows players to increase their own level. ("Yay, got some exp!") v. To gain experience. ("I spent my day exp'ing in lower guk.")

EQ - EverQuest.

FM - Full Mana

Group - n. A group of up to six players, which serves various purposes in gameplay. Group share any experience they earn, can chat in groupchat, , and receive any group buffs, (such as most bard song buffs, and a variety of spells of other classes). Certain spells can only effect group members, such as bind, invisiblility, and teleportation spells).

HP - n. Hitpoints. The total amount of health a player can have.

KS - v. Kill Steal. The act of stealing another person or group's kill by doing the most damage, and there for receiving the experience and or looting rights for the kill. ("That bloody wizard KS'd our ghoul lord and stole the ykesha!").

Level - (lvl) n. The skill ranking of any player or NPC in EverQuest. Every player starts out as level 1 and with experience, can gain skill until they reach level 50, (this limit of 50 will change to 60 with the EverQuest expansion). Meanwhile, all NPCs have their own designated level. Levels determine how well you can fight against others, and they determine when you receive special skills, spells, songs, etc. There is also a level range for PvP on the Pvp Servers. v. To gain levels. ("I'm gonna spend my day trying to lvl up.")

Lowbie - n. A low level character.

Mana - n. Each spell takes a certain amount of mana to cast, and players of casting classes have a limited supply of such mana at their disposal, and must wait to regain mana after it is used in much the same way as players must regain lost health. The meditate ability helps regain mana much faster than normal to assist players who use mana.

Manasong - n. The song Cassindra's Chorus of Clarity, which can be sung by level 32 bards. The song helps replenish the supply of mana for all mana using classes, (except for bards, although bards rarely use mana). While the song has similar effects to the level 29 enchanter spell Clarity, it's generally referred to by this term, while "clarity" is used more often to descibe the Enchanter spell.

NPC - n. Non Playable Character. A computer-controlled character in the game.

Newbie - (Newb, Noob) n. 1. A player who is new to EverQuest, and usually low in level. People may argue over the level at which players cease to be "newbies", but this is really just a matter of opinion, I think. 2. A low level character, played by someone who is not necessarally new to EverQuest, although this type of character could be though of as a lowbie instead. 3. A player who doesn't know much about the game, despite the fact that this player could actually be high in level.

OOM - Out Of Mana.

PC - n. Playable Character. An EverQuest player.

PK - (peekay) n. A "player killer", one who fights another player. Generally implies a negative connotaion, as in a scoundrel, and evil charater, although in reality, a PK is anyone who successfully beats down another player. ("Help! Badmartigan is PK!") v. To fight and defeat another player. ("Hey, those guys are Pking newbies!")

PLZ - (pls) An extremely common abbreviation for "please". Often used excessively. ("sow plz PLZ! PLZ SOW ME!").

PvP - n. 1. "Player versus player", the idea of players fighting each other. 2. One of the PvP servers, in which all charaters are allowed to engage in combat freely and without consent from their opponents. Depending on the server, level and race restrictions may apply. v. To fight another player. Closely tied in with the term PK, but without the negative connotation, although otherwise, they mean the same thing. People will argue that PvP is different from Pking, but I say, the only difference is that a PK is just a PvPer who is successful.

SoW - n. The spell "Spirit of Wolf", which can be cast by level 9 shamen, level 14 druids, and level 39 rangers. It increases a charater's movement speed and is probably the most sought after buff in the game. v. To cast Spirit of Wolf upon someone. ("Please sow me, man!")

TP - n. Teleport. Druids and Wizards get personal teleport spells at level 19, and group teleport spells at level 29. Druid teleport sites and wizard teleport sites are located in different places thoughout the world, but a few are in the same zone. Wizards also eventually can get teleport spells to teleport into the plane of hate and the plane of sky. v. To teleport someone.

Train - n. A group of angry NPCs who are all running to attack someone. When there are too many of these angry NPCs for a group to handle, the group runs to the zone, bringing the "train" along with them. ("Train to zone, watch out!") v. To bring along an angry NPC(s) to the zone or to another player. ("That guy is training sand giants to the north ro zone!")

Twink - n. A player who has received items from a player of a higher level inseat of earning them on his own. Often, the player has a high level character who has obtained such items, and given them directly to his lower level character. v. The act of giving higher level items to a lower level character. ("Just twinking my newbie.")

Woot - An expression used to show joy. A cheer. ("Woot, got a Ykesha!")

Zone - n. A designated area of play. The world is made up of many, many zones, all of which have their own name, their own supply of NPCs and their own look to them. NPCs do not travel out of there own zones, and travelling to a different zone is one was of escaping from angry NPCs. Each time you zone, it takes a certain amount of time, maybe thirty seconds to a minute, or longer, in which the new zone is loaded up. v. The act of travelling into a different zone. ("I'm zoning to Butcherblock now").
