Wilson Munday [Parents] was born about 1794 in Albemarle County, Virginia. He died 22 Dec 1865 in Warsaw, Hancock County, Illinois and was buried in Oakland Cemetery, Warsaw, Illinois. Wilson married Nancy Oliver on 29 Aug 1814 in Orange County, Virginia.

Wilson Munday appears in the 1840 census for Hancock County, so must have moved from Kentucky to Hancock County sometime between 1838 and 1840, given where the children were born. It is possible his first name was John.

In Nancy Oliver Munday's application for a War of 1812 pension, 1879, it mentions that Wilson enlisted on July 30, 1814, and was discharged at Camp Holly on February 8, 1815. Her petition also states that Wilson was 5'8", had black hair and eyes, and a dark complexion. It further states that the Mundays lived in Albemarle County, Virginia, until after the birth of their first three children, and that they then removed to Kentucky, moving on to Hancock County, Illinois, in 1838 or 1839. Wilson had been granted land in Hancock County under an 1850 Act of Congress, which he "legally disposed of  " and could not later reclaim. But under an 1855 Act, he could and did claim an additional land bounty in the Warsaw area. This information is contained in an affidavit written by C Winston Cook, Hancock County Justice of the Peace (May 29, 1855). This affidavit says that Wilson was 66 years old in 1855, which would make his birth about 1789, which doesn't work, since his parents were married in 1792.

Nancy Oliver [Parents] was born Apr 1796 in Orange County, Virginia. She died 2 Mar 1884 in Warsaw, Hancock County, Illinois and was buried 4 Mar 1884 in Oakland Cemetery, Warsaw, Illinois. Nancy married Wilson Munday on 29 Aug 1814 in Orange County, Virginia.

Obituary notice, Carthage newspaper:

"Mrs. Nancy Mundy, aged 86 years, died at Warsaw March 2nd. She settled in Warsaw in 1837. She has been blind nearly 40 years. She was he mother of eleven children. Her husband died in 1865."

On March 29, 1879, Nancy applied for a widow's pension available to widows of veterans of the War of 1812, under an Act of Congress of Feb. 4, 1871. Some of the information contained in these forms is set out under Wilson Munday's name. In her pension application. She describes herself as infirm and blind in both eyes, and that she is 83 years old, meaning she was born in about 1796. In one form, she lists "the names and the ages of her children now living near her in Warsaw:

John Munday, 50 years old
Joseph Munday, 46 years old. (my gggrandfather)

The names of Sarah A. Munday (my gggrandmother?) and of Jennie Mundy also appear, next to her name, which she signed with an "x" - as did Wilson in his land bounty application, as did Alfred in his last will and testament. Clearly they could not read and write. In a later affidavit, she speaks of Alfred, Mary Jane Clemens, and John, but not Joseph, as living in Warsaw.

Nancy was granted the pension, amounting to $8 per month, which ceased on December 4, 1883, after her death.
