The Blakely United Church of God in Christ Music Department gathers singers, spiritual dancers, and musicians of various musical
experience and ages to celebrate music and spirituality through the rich tradition of African American religious music.
Led by Minister of Music Minister Alvario Smith, Choir Director Khamelia Yarborough, Dance Ensemble Instructor Erica Pugh,
and backed by a talented ensemble of musicians, the choir's spirit and harmonies invariably bring audiences to their feet
in churches, conferences, and festivals.
With songs ranging from inspirational spirituals to rocking contemporary gospel tunes, the choir and dance team strives to
share the "Good News" of gospel music with diverse audiences, leaving them energized, hopeful, and filled with spirit.
The Blakely UCOGIC Choir(s) and Dance Team, through its soulful interpretation of the African-American gospel music tradition,
moves audiences spiritually and creates community across racial, cultural, and economic boundaries.
We strive to perform to the highest musical standards, preserving and educating about traditional forms while exploring new
musical avenues with African American gospel music.
We celebrate a love of gospel music, and seek to model community and reconciliation.
