Recent Hospital Stays

Just to let you know...There have been alot more hospital stays since June of 2003.(July 27th-30th, Sept 23-24, Oct 6-9, Nov 26-Dec 1, Dec 27-31, Jan 6-23, Feb 3-7, Feb 9-11, Feb 13-17, Feb 22-28, March 3-6, May 6-7, May 8-9) I just haven't felt like adding them on here yet. I haven't been doing that good. I'll do it really soon, I promise!! (Feb. 20th, 2004)

  • This time I was having totally new pains in my abdomen, stabbing sharp pains when I tried to take bites of food. They did a cat scan on me and found out I had a partial bowel obstruction, and part of my small bowel was dialated, plus I had the beggining of what they call "ileus". I was NPO for a few days and it seemed to get better.

  • In the ER my blood showed that again, I was severly dehydrated and starving to death. I was throwing up still, and not able to take my pills. It was horrible. They also found out that my adrenal glands were not working. My mom had to drive so far to see me every day. But I did improve, and got sent home.

  • This time my temperature was going back up..it was already to 101. We thought that my medi-port was maybe still infected. They did a test on me and it showed that I was starving to death. They gave me a TON of fluids all at once, and did a few tests. That's all.

  • In the ER my blood sugar was 54. I was also having bad abdominal pain, and was unable to eat anything. I was only in the hospital for 3 days this time.

  • This stay was something else. First, my home health care nurse came to see me. I was running a 102.5 temperature and just continually throwing up while she was there. Then she checked my pulse and it was 160. Then she called 911 and sai I was doing really bad and needed an ambulance. The Ambulance took me to the hospital, and at the hospital my temp was 103.4, and rising. They gave me fluids and did blood work and called my docs in Pittsburgh. A few hours later I was transfered to UPMC. They did more blood work and found out that I had a medi-port infection in my chest. I was given anti-biotics, and got better, and released.

  • I was admitted for abdominal pain because of my hernia. I had surgery the next day, and I spent 2 days in the ICU, one day on a respirator while I was awake. Man that was scarey.

  • Once again the abdominal pain got me! I had to go to the ER, it was hurting so so bad. I didn't know what to do so thats where I went to.

  • I was having alot of trouble eating, and keeping enough food down for nutrients. My blood was bad. Got some blood transfusions this time. I felt good going home. I was started on TPN via through my medi-port in my chest everynight for 12 hours.

  • Uncontrolable abdominal pain. This happens alot. Nothing seems to help it :/ .

  • Just an over night admission to rule out any problems with me.

  • I really think this hospital stay was for abdominal pain...I don't remember exactly...sorry

  • Again, I was admitted through the ER because where my feeding tube use to be was very very very sore. Also, it was still leaking food from my stomach, out from around where the hole now is. They did cat scan, and discovered that the 'tunnel' they made from my stomach to the surface of my skin (the tunnel that the feeding tube went through) wasn't healing shut. They also did blood work and found out that my infection had spead into my abdomen. My heart rate was around 140 beats per minute, alot higher than the normal 60-70 beats because of the infection. They gave me fluids and IV anti-biotics during this hospital stay. Click here to read this hospital stay.

  • I was admitted through the ER because my feeding tube kept leaking food from my stomach, out from around the tube insertion area. The next day I had my tube removed, and I was sent home, still having a really bad infection around the tube site. Click here to read this hospital stay.

  • The day before I was having alot of pain, but the day of the 17th I woke up not feeling half bad. Click here to read this hospital stay.As the day went on I began to feel more and more worse, to the point that I felt like I needed to go to the ER so my mom took me back to AGH. I was suprised how fast they got me back into a room to be seen by another hospital doctor.Infected J-Tube

  • Admitted through ER because I was having horrible pain across the bottom of my abdomen. I had 2 operations done on May 13th, The abscess drainage and the first part of the J-tube constructed. The following day the rest of my J-tube was finished.

  • I had been sick the entire week before, and missed 3 doctor appointments. I was admitted through the Greenville ER on April 28th because I was suppose to maybe have a feeding tube placed through my nose, and maybe try some bowel rest for the crohn's disease. My SED rate was pretty high. Thats the main reason why I was admitted. By the 30th of April, I couldn't stand one more day in that hospital. It was like a mad house. The rooms were so small. The bathrooms very small. I asked if I could just go home, and that I thought I would do better if I was home, so, he left me go home. Click here to read this hospital stay.

  • I was admitted through Greenvilles ER for severe abdominal pain. I had went to see shelly, and Dr.Shipton wasn't in his office, so she got ahold of him, and she told him how bad I looked and he said to go to the ER in Greenville. They admitted me and found out that my lipase was near 4,000. I asked to be transferred to AGH. The next day I was transferred by Ambulance to AGH. It took a good 2 hours to drive there. I spent another 19 days in the hospital there. They placed a stent in my pancreas to see if that helped with the pain, but it didn't, so they ended up taking it back out. When I felt good enough to go home, they left me go back home, that was March 16th.

  • Admitted through ER because of peri-rectal abcess, it was very swollen. Click here to read this journal hospital stay. They took me to the ER the 17th to look at the abscess, but by then it had drained all by itself, so they irrigated it out. I had been started on antibiotics the day I was admitted, so thats more than likely the reason why it cleared up before they got to drain it.

  • I had a sphincterotomy! yay fun! Click here to read about my new years fun hospital stay, and to see some funny ER pictures of me.
