EFI Conversion

Why is EFI better than carbureted?

Mustangs & Fords did an article on how much horsepower different early model engines really make on a Dynojet ("Muscle Mustang Showdown" p.20 Jan 99). I also looked at an article in Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords ("Rollin' Rockers" p.92 Sept 97) that measured stock hp on a 94 GT 5.0 the same way.

Keep in mind that the HiPo 289 is Bad-Ass!!!  Most street small blocks do not make this much power!!!

Motor Rear wheel HP Torque (lb-ft) Source Notes
65 HiPo 289 141 254 M&F Jan99 automatic, stock GT
66 HiPo 289 144 238 M&F Jan99 600cfm carb, 4spd., GT exhaust
70 Boss 302 179  209 M&F Jan99 electronic ignition, 4 spd.
1994 5.0HO 196 257 MM&FF Sept97 Crane coil, aftermarket mufflers, K&N

These numbers made me decide to go with EFI. With alot of late model 5.0's, it's relatively easy to find one to part out. The more you get from the donor car, the less headaches you will give yourself ! Everything means all wiring in the engine compartment, sensors, computer, intakes, accessories, etc, etc (you get the idea).

How to Convert to EFI?

Follow these instructions to find out how to make your Mustang more driveable and less annoying:
1. Look at the resources on my Links page.
2. Install the Motor
3. Install the Transmission
4. Hook up the Fuel injection
