Magic Time Machine 902 NE Loop 410 (828-1470) $10-20+. Kind of crazy and goofy, but lots of fun. Ask for the Roman Orgy.

Amy's Ice Cream 225 E. Basse (Quarry Market) (832-8886) Scoop is $1.60 and quart $6.25. If you like ice cream at all, you will LOVE Amy's ice cream. It is a branch of the Austin original, filled with entertaining servers ready to smash some crushin's in your ice cream and flip into the air for show. Excellent flavors. Classic favorite is Mexican Vanilla. Baskin Robbins Ice Cream & Yogurt 5238 De Zavala (at 1-10) (699391 1) and 6727 Bandera (684-9373). 31 flavors and then some.
Haagen-Dazs 1-10 & Wurzbach (Colonnades) (696@) $2-6. Classic treats.
Marble Slab Creamery Huebner Oaks Shopping Center, Rivercenter, and Northstar Malls. Similar concept to Amy's only not as sweet.
TCBY 7959 Fredericksburg (692-7735). Wonderful low fat options with delicious yogurt. Very close to school.
The Ultimate Cheesecake 9855 W I-10 (Colonnade, off of Wurzbach) (696-5190) $1.80/slice, $6.70-20/ whole cheesecakes. Copious flavor options, also cakes (German chocolate, etc.) and tortes (almond creme).

Coffee Houses/Tea Houses

Big Apple Bagel 8434 Fredericksburg (614-3095) under $5. Good place for freshly baked bagels and coffee. The bagel sandwiches are good.
Border's Bookstore 11745 I-10 W (Huebner Oaks) (561-0022) under $5. Excellent music and bookstore with great coffee shop. Good flavored coffee with Biscotti, scones and other assorted snacks.
Calcutta Coffee House 7920 Fredericksburg (692-9600) under $5. Nice open atmosphere. Tasty sandwiches, coffees, teas & treats.
Candlelight Coffee House 3011 N. St Mary's Street (738-0099) under $5. Good studying atmosphere away from school. Cappyccino's 5003 Broadway (828-6860) under $5 Good stuff.
Java Joe's Java Bar 7271 Wurzbach (614-5280) under $5. Coffee & sandwiches and close to school.
Madhatter's Tea 3606 Avenue B (821-6555) under $5. As whimsical madcap as its literary inspiration. Excellent tea options, sandwiches good too.
Starbucks Coffee Wurzbach @ I-10 (at the Colonnade) (696-1153), Huebner Oaks Shopping Center, and next to Border's Bookstore at IH-10 and DeZavala. Under $5. Limited uncomfortable seating. Great for takeout.
