We want our school and classroom to be a warm, safe, and happy place to be. In order to do that we need to follow our classroom rules. I expect good behavior to be not only in the classroom, but also in the hallway, bathrooms, cafeteria, special classes and on the playground of our school.

The behavior management plan in our classroom is designed to provide both rewards and consequences, and targets acceptable, unacceptable, individual, and total class behaviors.

Parents, I am excited to meet and welcome your child to my class. I am looking forward to a very exciting and rewarding school year. I want to encourage teamwork between the children and myself in making good behavior decisions.  I recognize that each child is different with respect to their own style and speed. With that said, my goal is to create a safe, secure, positive, and supportive learning environment so that each and every child in my classroom can learn. My main goal is to encourage the children to make smart choices and develop positive behavior on their own. The
classroom rules that are established within our classroom on the first day of school will help our class run smoothly and effectively this year.

Your child is ALWAYS responsible for his/her own actions. We have a pocket chart displayed in our classroom and each child has a set of index cards that starts the day on green. If a child is spoken to about his/her behavior his/her card changes  to yellow, then orange, and then to pink. The consequences are as follows:

Green = No Warning / Verbal Warning
Yellow = Verbal Warning + Another Warning
Orange= Too Many Warnings - loss of recess
Pink = Too Many Warnings / Pink Slip or Met with
Miss Abromitis (Principal) - loss of recess for one
           week

**A Daily Behavior Chart is sent home with your child in his/her
BEAR Binder. The chart will allow you to see what color your child's bee was for that day along with any notes or concerns. Please be sure to sign this chart each day so that I am aware that it has been seen and discussed.
Note:  A pink slip occurs when there is a verbal and/or physical abuse to a fellow student or teacher. If this occurs, the child is immediately given a pink slip which will be sent home in his/her Take-Home Folder or through the mail and the following will take place:

1st offense = child fills out the back of the pink slip (Think Sheet) and returns it to school the next day.  Loss of school-wide incentive.

2nd offense = child fills out the back of the pink slip (Think Sheet), and returns it to school the next day.  Loss of school-wide incentive and meeting is held with Mrs. Davidson (school counselor) and the child regarding the incident that took place.

3rd offense = child fills out the back of the pink slip (Think Sheet), and returns it to school the next day.  Loss of school-wide incentive and meeting is held with the child, Mrs. Davidson (school counselor), teacher, and parents regarding the incident that took place.
Behavior Management Plan
"Compliments"
This is our whole class reward system. There is a designated spot on the wall in our classroom where the word "Compliments" will be posted. On the first day of school I give the class the first letter as a head start.  Each time the class gets a compliment from either myself, another teacher, administrator, or parent, the class receives the next letter in the word.  Once the class has earned enough compliments to spell out the whole word, they have their choice of either a popcorn during JFK's Popcorn Day, extra recess, or a popsicle party.
