Welcome to Fifth Grade!� I hope you are as excited as I am to begin the year!� There is so much to learn, and I am excited to be teaching your child.
In fifth grade our main objective, besides learning the California State Standards, is to learn to be self-reliant and responsible. The PFA has gladly provided us with assignment planners that are to be used DAILY to write down ALL homework.� It is your child's responsibility to write down all the assignments they have to do NEATLY.� This planner also serves as a means of communication between the parents and myself. If you have any concerns, please jot them in the planner, and I will do my best to respond promptly.� This planner MUST come back and forth to school EVERYDAY!
Each student is responsible to bring their own materials to class EVERYDAY. Please see the list on the back of this paper to see what your child will need. Please also keep a set of basic supplies (scissors, coloring materials, pencils, pens, and glue) at home for homework projects. This is a great time to find the back to school deals!
Homework is an opportunity for our students to practice what they learn in class.� Please see the note with the Homework, Classwork and Grading policy for expectations regarding this. � I will be posting homework on the class website everyday (www.geocities.com/mrsartadi). Spelling lists and other class information is also available on the site.
Please also note that we have P.E. almost everyday of the week, please sure your child is dressed appropriately for this.
I believe a child's success at learning is based upon the effort that they put out to learn the required material.� This includes, but is not limited to, attendance and tardies - please help their learning by making sure they are at school on time and are well prepared.� If possible, please try to schedule medical and dental appointments during afterschool hours.�
