HOMEWORK and GRADING POLICY

Homework is an important part of the learning process.  What you have learned in class, you are expected to practice and review at home.

STUDENT EXPECTATIONS

* Homework is due the following day that it is assigned (unless otherwise noted).

* Students are expected to have homework ready to turn in first thing in the morning, otherwise it will be considered late or incomplete.

* Assignments should be done neatly, on a whole sheet of binder paper, with a proper heading.  Do not hand in assignments that are cut, torn, or on partial sheets of paper.  Please show your work on all assignments.

Students who do not meet the homework expectations, by not turning in their work on time, forgetting their work at home, or turning in an unacceptable assignment will be assigned study hall at lunch or break until all the homework is complete.

GRADING:

Banta is on a trimester system and report card grades will be given out three times during the year.  Progress reports are given mid trimester and provide your child the opportunity to maintain or improve their grades before the end of the trimester.  Grading is as follows:  Tests/Quizzes/Projects 55%, Homework/Classwork 45%.

Students will receive a grade on homework assignments.  All homework grades will be factored into each child’s report card. (Some projects and long term assignments will be given more points.)

5 = Assignment turned in on time, completed, and shows full understanding of concept.

4-3 = Assignment turned in on time, completed, and shows SOME understanding of concept.

2 = Assignment is late and/or does not meet grade level standard.

1 = Assignment is late and/or little effort was put into the assignment.

0 = No effort, not turned in.
