This is story about a boy growing into a man while trying to determine what role model he wants to follow, the mobster or his father. After seeing a murder in his Bronx neighborhood, Calogero (Capra) is hush-hush. The local mob boss, Sonny (Palminteri) takes him under his wing, while his father (De Niro) argues against it. Soon, 'C' (Brancato) faces racial tensions of love and moral pressure from his father. Joe Pesci has a minor role.
An excellent movie on its own terms with De Niro's first outing as a director.
