RANT - Celebrities (12/29/06)
PICS - Lightning Collection 7 (12/28/06)
PORTFOLIO - AMS Web Page (11/29/06)
PICS - Albany, New York (10/7/06)

I could go for some free time right about now. No updates in almost two months... makes me want to almost shed a tear. I might be putting me web site on a new address soon because I figured out how to access my school web page, and it's a lot easier to update (via FTP) than the geocities page. Once updated, this page will become a forwarding link to my school page.

Until then, it's work, homework, girlfriend, food, and sleep.

Celebrities, whether they know it or not, control our lives in some way or another. I believe that they shouldn't. In fact, why do we care about celebrities at all? With all this talk about celebrities in the news, I decided that they would be a good topic for my newest rant.

The AMS web site has also been updated quite a bit. I currently have it up using iframes, but I cannot use the navigation iframe to target the main iframe, so I'm going to try to switch it all over to regular frames (because it's VERY easy to do using frames, but I've never coded frames before). So yeah we'll see how that goes.

And I'll get to updating the archives soon.

A thunderstorm hit Albany on the 1st of December... very unusual for New York. At first, the line of thunderstorms did not produce much lightning, but after it went over me, the storms exploded, providing quite the excellent display of lightning.

I tried recording the thunderstorm from the penthouse in the Tower for the awhile, but then I went back down to my dorm, which is where I got the rest of the pictures. I sent this one to two local news stations, and they both put it on the news that night. It is quite a fantastic picture, and I am proud to have taken it.

I got the go-ahead to complete my AMS web site, so that will keep me busy for the rest of break. Getting it complete and fully functional should take about seven hours of work. The hard part will be converting the home page into frames and the like. After that, I can use the main page as a template for the rest of the pages.

Should be fun!

P.S.
I updated the banner finally!

After a long period of inactivity, I came back to web design. I was really bored tonight, surfing the web, when I came accross the AMS "Club" web site. It looked like it could use some lovin', so I spent a few hours creating THIS.

The banner was an adventure. Using Photoshop and Paintshop Pro, I made the words, clouds, sun, and fades all from scratch. That took awhile. I used two images from the original web site and put one on the far left (the navigation area), and the other I molded into part of the banner.

I'm running the new design by the committee, and hopefully they'll let me go ahead and make a replacement web site. In case you were wondering, there old web site can be seen here.

I was also asked by a member of the Ski Club to make a web site for them, and naturally I accepted. Always fun to make art.

Wow, it's been almost a month since my last update already? Holy crap that was fast.

I've been swamped with school work lately. Add that to procrastination, and you've got a deadly mixture that can kill a blogsite.

I guess I could write a couple more movie reviews. I've recently seen THE DEPARTED and BORAT (both were fantastic, by the way), so I'll probably throw those in sometime. I also have some more pictures I could post.

So uhhh yeah I removed my latest rant because of a complaint I recieved, but it will go back up at the end of the semester. I really should do another rant soon. A few ideas have been floating around, but I haven't really fully developed any.

I'm going to replace that banner sometime... I just have to be in the mood for it, which is usually on the weekend, but my weekends have been full lately, so not much has been accomplished outside of school work.

I volunteered for the first time since coming to college today. I worked at a weather booth, representing the local chapter of the Atmospheric Meteorological Society (AMS). Try vending weather to people. It's not easy. Most people just aren't that interested. But hey I was there and did what I could. "The more you know!" *star wipe*.

I took pictures of Albany last Thursday while visiting the observation area at the top of Mohawk Tower. It is used for all types of weather observation and data collection. My ATM210 class got to visit it , and I was awake enough that morning to grab the camera before heading out the door. It paid off big time because a cold front had moved through the night before, leaving the atmosphere clean and crisp - perfect for taking extremely-long-distance photos. Enjoy!

I also brought back the forums for whoever wants to use it. I added a forum where you can request rants you would like me to write and any full-sized images of the pictures that I have posted on the web site.

Thunderstorms for today and tomorrow... I'm excited. Hopefully some crazy lightning action will be thrown my way. Seriously... thunderstorms in October. That's freakin awesome. I'll try to get some sweet pictures to post.

So I added a new movie review for Jackass 2 because the site needed an update. This movie is not for the queasy, as many disgusting and often disturbing pranks are featured in this film. Simply put, it was hilarious. A must see for lovers of the first movie and the television series. Nothing is too crazy for the Jackass crew in this movie.

New lightning pictures are up, as well as a new cloud picture (the top one). This thunderstorm was a good ending to quite the spactacular season for me. It was my first time experiencing a thunderstorm from 10 stories up, and I must say it was quite enjoyable. We even had a rainbow afterwards.

I also have my next rant topic: Guitar Hero and its Uses. I'll probably throw in DDR at some point during the rant as well.

I love college.

Today I decided to get moving with the web site again. I've been in college for over a week now, and I promised to get this site more active, so here I am. College has been a blast, and this year is looking to be even better than last year. Pictures of my suite will come soon, we just have a couple of things to get for the common room, which is already rocking.

I watched Silent Hill on its DVD release, hoping to see a scary movie. Not to my surprise, I was disappointed. It was still a decent movie, though, and is definitely worth watching for those who have played/seen the Silent Hill video game series.

Beerfest was a nice surprise when I saw it in theaters during my first night at college. The story was much better and more thought out than I expected it to be, and it proved to be an actual movie, rather than another mindless teen movie. My advise is to grab a group of friends and go watch it.
