IN THE NEWS: Celebrities pinned against each other in a feud, celebrity couple breaks up, celebrity has a baby, celebrity has picture taken of them!
WHO THE HELL CARES!?! What makes celebrities different from anyone else? People know their name. That's it. The only difference between someone in Ohio having a baby and Britney Spears having a baby is we "know" who Britney Spears is. The birth itself is nothing special. Britney Spears didn't have the second coming of Jesus, and neither did the person in Ohio, but we still hear about Spears' baby.
People pay so much attention to celebrities that it sickens me. There are many people who are much more important to our daily lives than celebrities, yet they are pushed into the background just so we can hear the hottest news on Donald Trump.
So after you've memorized everything you could about all the celebrities you love, what next? I suppose you go meet them! But who does that? Most people never meet these so-called celebrities in their lifetime. So why is it that we have to hear every juicy detail about a celebrity scandal if we haven't even met the person?
Since we are SO enthralled in anything to do with celebrities, we need people to find the celebrities and get the stories. The paparazzi are the middle-men between private lives and the public eye. So what about these folk? Well, let's see. For starters, they invade what little privacy celebrities get, which for most celebrities is a real pain in the ass. People tresspassing on your property, breaking into your home, blocking you from an exit, and nearly crashing into you on the road, just to get that one picture or video that will make them rich. If we weren't so concerned with celebrities' lives, the paparazzi would not exist, which would make life easier for a lot of people.
Celebrities are just people; not dissimilar from you and me. The difference between a celebrity and an average person, and for that matter everyone with a different profession, is their talents. They're not better than us, nor are they worse. They certainly don't care about our lives, so why should we care about them?
This is one of the reasons why I don't watch the news.
