Heather is having a hard time deflecting
the attentions of a male admirer, as Wesley displays his usual pesky nature.
Kevin shows Marsha his less than respectable report card when the doorbell
rings.
Outside, standing in the middle of a blizzard is Mr. Belvedere, who
is quick to announce that he is the Owens' new housekeeper. Marsha
attempts to dissuade him, explaining that the decision is to be made with
her husband George. But when George comes home and meets Mr. Belvedere,
he immediately vetoes hiring him, and thinks nothing of sending him back
out into the snow. However, Marsha can't agree to that and invites him
back to have dinner with the family.
Kevin summons enough courage to show his report card to George, who is
surprisingly lenient, explaining that with both he and Marsha busy, they
will need him to drive. After midnight, Wesley runs into Mr. Belvedere
as he searches the house for his missing hamster, while Heather rejects
more advances from Billy, her unmasked admirer.
Out in the garage, Mr. Belvedere finds Kevin in the car and discovers
that he is scared and anxious about all the new responsibilities he is
being confronted with, so much so that he purposely lowered the grades
on his report card.
The next morning, Mr. Belvedere announces his departure, but not before
alerting George and Marsha to their children's current problems. Reluctant
to see him go, Marsha and the kids plead with George, who after realizing
what a positive influence he has become allows Mr. Belvedere to stay. |
