Reflection
Assessment is an important piece of any educational puzzle.  The important question to ask of any learning experience is, Why are we doing this?  What are we trying to accomplish?  How will we know if we accomplished our objectives?  As all students have various learning styles, it is important to use many forms of assessment to meet these learning styles.  The days of simply giving a test are long gone.  Alternate forms of assessment must be implemented in order to address each student's multiple intelligences.  The article review below describes how digital portfolio are a great means of assessing a student, as well as teachers, to see how the students are meeting their educational goals and the teachers are meeting district and state goals.  As a Technology Facilitator, we must consider how we will assess our students, as well as ourselves on how well the technology implementation helped us achieve our educational goals.  Artifact #1 illustrates how a rubric could be used to assess students using their technology skills to create a wallpaper for a computer background.  Artifact # 2 reflects the idea that we must also assess ourselves as educators.  One of the assignments we had to complete for the class "Technology Facilitator, Issues and Challenges" was to evaluate our district's technology plan.  As a member of our district technology committee, it is also our job to do so before rewriting a new technology plan every three years.  Some look at assessment with a negative connotation, becuase we are going to find things that are 'wrong' with our work.  We as technology facilitators and educators, need to look at assessment as a means of opportunity and improvement.
