Day 8

Green Point

We squeezed in shopping on our last day here at Green Point.  This morning market is bigger than that of Green Market Square.  All traders from there will converge here on Sunday morning.

Cape Peninsula

We drove round the cape peninsula, starting our journey from Sea Point, leading on to Clifton Beach, Camps Bay.  With rocky outcrops, sandy beaches, and on a beautiful weather, the drive was brilliant!   We stopped every now and then to snap photographs of its stunning beauty.  Too bad we only managed to go up ¾ way to Chapman’s Peak as the road leading to the Peak was undergoing some repair work then.  Even then, the view was superb! We continued our journey to Fish Hoek and Simon’s Town.  Boulders Beach, the colony of Jackass Penguins (African Penguins) at Simon’s Town was busy and was difficult to get car parked. Nevertheless, it was worth the trip and would have been better if we had our swimsuits on.  We then drove south towards Cape Point and the Cape of Good Hope.  A beautiful drive from Simon’s Town and we could see waves crashing against the shore and rocks on our left.  When we reached the Cape Point car park, it was already 6pm but the sun is still shining brightly. Which means we only had an hour left because the place is close at 7pm.  We headed towards the lighthouse and there we could see the spectacular coastline. Cape Point, the highest sea cliffs in SA is where the cold current on the west coast merges with the warm current on the east coast. Once up there, the view was just awesome and the air was so fresh.  We would have stayed up there the whole night, if only we could!! After taking in all the sights, we walked around the edge to Diaz Point.  From there, it gave us another view of the ocean. We left the place slightly after 7pm; happy we finally got to Cape Pointe but a lil sad coz it’s our last evening in Cape Town.

Dinner was at Five Flies, recommendation by our host at Bergzicht.  A very nice place to wind down for the night.  The food was excellent and for once, the portion is not too big.
