| City By the Sea City By the Sea is a story of a real life situation with a different reason why the murder happened. Detective Vincent LaMarca (Robert De Niro) gives an excellent portrayal of a man hurting deep within from a traumatic family tragedy. LaMarca's own father was executed for a baby kidnapping, which went wrong when the baby accidently died. LaMarca resents the fact that his father inadvertly abandoned him when he was young. Ironically LaMarca abandoned his son Joey(James Franco) Joey becomes a junkie and constantly ask the question "Why did my father desert me?" The movie generates generational consistency concerning absent father figures within the home. This movie illustrates how anguish, pain and hopelessness lingers through three generations before a healing process is achieved. It gets two thumbs up. |
