For more details of this CD, click here. The Mounthoolies were originally formed by three ex-Aberdeen University students which is why they're named after a roundabout in that fine city. The original line up of Anthony Black, Chris Joynes and Mike Rasmussen had moved to London after college and were joined by the older, but sadly no wiser, South London trio of Andy Lamb, Richard Partridge and Andy Carter. The Mounthoolies play a wide ranging mix of Americana from traditional dance tunes and ballads, through the music of early country music pioneers like the Carter Family, Bob Wills and Hank Williams, right up to contemporary alt country. The band's enormous and eclectic repertoire combined with their infectious enthusiasm and powerful vocal harmonies have ensured that they get a warm welcome wherever they go. The Mounthoolies are available for bookings for pubs, clubs, festivals and theatres. They are also available for barn dances.
