BAND NEWS SUPERSTARDOM Chris recently officially became the most famous Mounthooly after twice featuring on the Andy Kershaw show on BBC Radio 3 with tracks from his recent solo album "33". You can get hold a copy of Chris's CD on Leith Hill Recordings either by writing to us at [email protected] or by visiting www.htrecords.co.uk.Chris will also be back on the Andy Kershaw show in the near future for a live studio session. Meanwhile we were pleased to see Nizlopi hit the number one spot this Christmas with their hit "JCB". A couple of years back we played with them at one of the Amnesty International Festivals at the Grey Horse in Kingston so it's a big thrill for us to see one of our peers get to the top. WEDDING BELLS Our much esteemed mandolin plucker and singer Mr Christopher Kingsley Joynes was married in October 2005. Our best wishes for the future go out to Chris and Usha. Female fans of the Mounthoolies may be interested to know that Mike and Tony are still available, but hurry while stocks last!! CD SALE BARGAINS Our Christmas 2003 release CD "Down From Mounthooly" is still available featuring 14 of our best known tracks. Prices have recently been slashed to a bargamungous 7 at all our gigs (or an even more cheapulicious 12 for two - they make an ideal present for Christmas), but if you can't wait that long, they're also available mail order. GRAND OLD ROPEY COUNTRY MUSIC CLUB Sadly the Grand Old Ropey has run into some difficulties with the venue and we have been forced to suspend the club for the time being. However, we're keen to keep the idea of the club alive and are currently exploring ways of taking it on the road. Look out for more Grand Old Ropey gigs in 2006. THE TWO ANDYS Mounthoolies fans who have seen the band at the last few Grand Old Ropey gigs will have noticed that the band's average age (and girth) has decreased with the departure of the two Andys. Mr Lamb's departure for the dreaming spires of Oxford have caused logistical difficulties for him which have made continuing in the band on a regular basis difficult and the same has gone for Andy Carter since his move to the country. However, Andy Carter was back with the band for festival appearances at Leigh on Sea and Romsey (where his daughter Catriona even joined the band on tuba) this summer and was also back for the band's recent successes in Sawbridgeworth and Cambridge. Andy Lamb is still the far and away still the best barn dance caller we know, so book us for a barn dance and you may still be able to enjoy the full and mighty weight of the whole six man line up. In the meantime the two Andys are working on a new project up in Oxford called The Yukons, which is building up a steady following in their local area.
