The Motherhand Society |

The belief system of the Motherhand Society is based on three principles:
|

1. Healing ourselves is our birthright, and we are each responsible for our own health and well being.
2. Motherhand Shiatsu is a partnership that respects the spiritual integrity each one of us has with heaven and earth.
3. Human beings are currently in the position of guardians of the planet we live on and all of the life sustained by it. |

We uphold these principles by committing ourselves to certain practices: |

We vow to continue our path of self discovery, never becoming complacent in our search and never assuming superiority over any human being. We will ask forgiveness if ever this vow is trespassed.
We presume integrity in our partners and in ourselves when giving and receiving Motherhand Shiatsu. We give reverence to this integrity before session and after.
We devote our practice to the guardianship of this planet and all life on Earth. our practice is dedicated to creating peace and kinship among all human beings. |

The Motherhand Society seeks to integrate a spiritual context in our modern, American approach to family and community health and well being. We are interested in raising community consciousness and infusing it with a spiritual kinship created by the peaceful, respectful Motherhand touch. Our mission is to bring the safe, simple practice called Motherhand shiatsu in the homes and community organizations around the country. Our goal is to encourage family members to learn and become comfortable practicing Motherhand shiatsu with the people they care about, be they sick or well. The utilization of this energy between two people who care about each other will enhance family relationships, strengthen community bonds, enabling them to confront problems and overcome dilemmas that are part of life. On an individual level, this energy of kinship can help families dealing with illness and other family matters. Because it is only one human being's touch to another, it will never interfere with any other type of therapy or medical treatment, but rather will augment it. |

Our message is imparted through lecture/demonstrations, workshops, and with a volunteer corp that offers shiatsu to families and community organizations. We are looking for opportunities to work with groups of people dealing with recovery from physical trauma, such as crime survivors, sexual abuse survivors and people who have undergone intrusive surgery. Another leg of our mission is to help people recover a sense of respect and love for their own bodies as creations of the Divine. |
