1. Report on the 9th Annual Falling Waters Retreat and the Holiday Party |

| The 9th Annual Autumn Retreat was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable retreats we've had so far. The weather was exquisite and the grounds were lovely as ever. The congregation of motherhands was a wonderfully warm, relaxed and peaceful group, lending themselves so generously to the giving and receiving of our own brand of shiatsu. Amy Matthews graciously offered morning yoga classes by the fireplace while I, along with Maria and Mari, began the day with tai chi practice outside in that refreshing Saugerties morning air. The weekend culminated with the Sunday morning initiation/graduation ceremony for our 14th class. Everyone; graduates, students, guests (and the teacher!) was deeply moved by the sincerity of the words spoken, and the grace and magic of the ceremony. It is my sincere hope that all motherhands will be present next year |

| Our other annual event, the Christmas party/raffle was also a big success this year. Thanks to everyone who brought great food to be shared as well as to those who participated in the raffle.....we had 24 people go away with gift certificates; not only for shiatsu, but one for a Zero Balancing session and one for a Thai massage!! Everyone left with a moxa stick and I hope they are being used this week of cold, snowy weather |

Two of our own Motherhand Society graduates gave birth to twin girls in 2000. Shanee Steinberg and her husband, Yishai welcomed Oryla and Maya into the world in August and then in October, Katherine Kirkpatrick and her husband John brought Hannah and Gwen into the world in Seattle, WA. How many of you remember Harry Mullin?? He became a stepfather of two teenage boys (bless his heart) when he married Robin in 1999 and now they're thrilled to have their own baby girl, Allisa, born in April, 2000. And last but not least, congratulations to Dayna Davis and her husband Jerry on the birth of their son, Ray Azule Jameson, born October 28, 2000. |
