| Thursday 18/11/2004 In the US, the man behind the now defunct Moral Majority says he feels a divine call to pursue similar goals once again. The Reverend Jerry Falwell has formed The Faith and Values Coalition to rally voters with Christian values in mind. Author and theologian Tim LaHaye, known for the "Left Behind" series, will serve as board chairman. The organization will mobilize Americans to be pro-life, pro-family, pro national defense and pro-Israel. In the US, churches in Colorado have joined together to have a specially designed Bible delivered with the Sunday paper. One hundred thousand New Testments custom designed for the city of Colorado Srpings will be distributed as part of an International Bible Society project. The Bibles are tailored specifically for those who live in Colorado with pictures of well know places in the area. Australian photographer Ken Duncan has given a slide show presentation and his testimony at a church in Sydney. More than 1500 people turned out at Christian City Church Oxford Falls to hear Duncan tell how his love of photographing creation led to him becoming a Christian. Photographs taken by Duncan on the set of the Passion of the Christ are also on display at a church in Muswellbrook. Duncan describes himself as an average photographer with a great God. Tuesday 16/11/2004 The Salvation Army looks set to raise more than 600 000 dollars from CD sales this Christmas. This year the Salvo's "Spirit of Christmas" CD features 14 contributors, including Guy Sebastian and Cosima from Australian Idol 2003, as well as John Stevens, Christine Anu and James Morrison. Proceeds will help fund the Army's work around Australia with young people. The "Spirit of Christmas" CD is available from Myer Grace Brothers stores. In Brisbane, Australia a radio station run by Christians is proving popular with non church goers. 96.5FM with recently celebrated 30 years of broadcasting, plays both Christian and mainstream music. Every song is positive, with no drug or sexual reference. The station's aim is to be preferred station of families, not just Christians. Close to 40% of the audience don't attend church regularly. |
