I do heaps of sport. In the summer in Melbourne, I swim around 6
times a week with a swimming club called H2O. I compete regularly
and this sport is where I spend most of my time because I love it.
My main stroke is Backstroke. In the summer holidays I patrol as a volunteer surf lifesaver down at Pt Leo surf life saving club. I completed a part of my lifesaving qualification in 2003 to become a junior lifesaver and in the summer holidays in 2005/06 I completed my Bronze Medallion and I was named in the surf rescue team. I love being down at the beach because of the great atmosphere around the club. In previous seasons I have competed for Pt Leo in several carnivals and the state titles, in juniors (nippers) and in seniors. Although I don’t normally enjoy going in the water when it is freezing cold, rainy and windy (sometimes hailing) without anything other than a cap, goggles and Speedos, it's a great feeling afterwards having finished it and gotten dry again. I am a crap board paddler though and can't manage to stay on my knees on the boards. In the last couple of years, I have been a Ballkid at the Australian Tennis Open at Melbourne Park in January. This is an enormous experience, the free uniform, free food, free drinks, free tickets, free shoes, and free sunnies. The free stuff is great, but it's not the reason I wanted to be a Ballkid. Our passes let us into the restricted areas, behind the scenes, and so we can sit on centre court and watch the big matches and walk around downstairs and see the players getting pep talked by their coaches before a match. There are about 350 Ballkids working on the busiest days at the Australian Open and they are very sought after positions. Last year I was fortunate enough to be selected on a centre court squad in round two, Roger Federer, Andy Roddick and Amelie Mauresmo played and won their matches. In winter, I still swim 6 or so times a week, although training is entirely indoors and competition is short course (25m not 50m). My Saturday morning compulsory school sport is Field Hockey, and there are two trainings and a match a week for that. In the holidays in the last couple of years I have been up to Mt Hotham and Mt Buller and have snowboarded up there for about 10 days. That is the bit of winter I enjoy the most. Apart from sports, I have been playing the Piano since I was about 5 or 6, and have been playing the clarinet since year 5 and I'm in the Trinity symphonic wind ensemble which is pretty much just a long name for the school concert band.
