A difficult thing for children to master and for parents to help their children learn is Toilet Training.

Having day-trained both of my children by myself I understand the frustrations associated with this milestone.  I encourage you to remember that all children are different and that should you feel that your child has a problem in this skill, talk with your family doctor.  Although friends and relatives have well-meant intentions, they often end up causing both the parents and child more heartache and confusion.

Because this is such a challenging milestone for children and parents alike, I have an article that I found particularly helpful.  I have also included a couple of helpful links that I hope help you out.

Breastfeeding

Breastfeeding is one of the most rewarding things that you can do for your baby and yet it is also one of the most challenging.  I have breastfed both of my children until THEY stopped despite problems and criticism.  It is never easy, but the bond I enjoy with the children because I breastfed them is worth ANYTHING.  I have compiled a list of articles and links that I feel may help you with this important life task.

Good Luck!!!

Self Esteem and Confidence

Helping our children build their self esteem and self confidence is a very important part of our job as parents.  It is also one of the most difficult jobs.  For me and my kids, I have found that praise and focus on the positive works well. I have included an article entitled 98 Ways to say "Very Good" . I have this article posted on my fridge and try to use a new way to say "Very Good" everyday.  It is amazing how much such a small thing can have such a huge impact on a child.
