The quote by midwife Suzanne Arms on the main page really sums up my reason for becoming a birth professional. I fully believe that we can change the world one birth at a time! Let me tell you a little more about who I am and how I became involved in the field.

Educator/Doula In one way or another, I have been in the education field since 1998, and  involved with birthing since 2003. That summer, a friend of mine invited me to attend a hospital-based childbirth class with her and be trained as a back-up support person (her husband was a pilot and frequently was away from home). It was her birth which led me down the path on which I find myself now...a birth junkie! I continued reading and studying, and began my doula certification with DONA (Doulas of North America) in early 2005. I have completed my training requirements and am currently attending births to finish my certification.

Birth Philosophy My birth philosophy is simple. I empower women to know their options and make the right choices for them. I do not espouse one form of birth over another; rather, I serve the mother in learning what her own desires are for her birth, giving her access to the information she needs to keep herself and her baby healthy throughout pregnancy and birth, and supporting her in the decisions she makes. So my motto, "Helping Moms Birth Babies...Naturally" does not refer to my preference for unmedicated birth. Rather, it refers to the naturalness of women working with women in birth.
