My kids love getting their hands on stuff as basic as paper and scissors and glue. They are always drawing pictures for Mommy and Daddy. Right now, one of our living room walls is nearly wallpapered with drawings that the girls have done. I have changed the living room around a bit, but decided to leave them up there. They are quite special to me and I can't throw them away. I have thrown some of their other stuff away, but not these. As a matter of fact, one day I will scan them and show them to the world!!

During my moments of web surfing, I have found many craft projects to do with my kids. I hope that these will be helpful to you and your children as well. Like I said, my kids are always wanting to do crafty things and I am always looking for the kind of projects that are quick and easy. There is usually a mess afterwards, but what is craft time without the mess? LOL

A lot of these are links to other sites, but I will have some of our most favorite ideas here on my website. Enjoy!!!

Favorite of the week

Wooden Ornaments

A new Hobby Lobby store opened not too long ago, so I went in for a quick visit. They were about to close in 15minutes so I had to hurry. As I was oohing and aahing over everything, I came to their wooden products section. Wow! They had everything, jumbo craft sticks, wooden ornaments and boxes. I got some of the ornaments, they were only 15 cents apiece. The next day, the kids painted them on both sides. They already had holes in them for hanging. Can't prepare too early for Christmas!! The kids enjoyed painting them, when it comes time to put them on the tree, I will get some glitter and let them embellish them further.

Time Capsule

This would make a great activity or project for a family or home school group to do. Come up with a theme and pack your container full with memorabilia and whatever you want whoever opens the package to see.
If you plan on burying the capsule make sure the container is waterproof like a large plastic tub with a lid or a glass jar with a lid. I would wrap with a plastic bag just to be safe. If you do not want to bury it outside, an attic, garage, or closet will suffice.
The kids can write letters, draw pictures or add a small toy to put inside.
Have the family or group decide when to open the capsule. Also record the date when it was buried and most importantly WHERE the capsule was buried or hidden. On the day that you want to open it, have a party and have fun opening it!

  • How about doing one when a baby is born?
  • A capsule that is evangelistic in nature would be cool too. A Bible, some tracts, a Left Behind video or book and a personal letter could help someone one day in the future.
  • Anymore ideas? Email me and let me know!
