| It is hard to believe but Kali' puppies are already 5 weeks old. They are very, active, kissy, and playful. But don't let them, with their sweet puppy breath, fool you. In between their numerous puppy kisses, they will manage to slip in an unexpected teething nip from time to time. Ouch! Those baby teeth are razor sharp. In order to help with the weaning process Kali only goes in the box to make sure the pups are clean and give them a quick nursing which helps to relieve her of the extra milk. Several of the pictures show "Grandma" Topaz, my 11 1/2 year old golden, in the box with the pups. She is convinced that the puppies belong to her and will stay with them most of the day and night. She allows them to nurse and the puppies do get some milk from her. She is very tolerant as they climb all over her, bite on her fur, or tug on an ear, as part of their playtime. Kali is fine with Topaz's help and I am sure is appreciative of the extra "pair of paws". |
