MAKING NEW CONNECTIONS
Brain Injury Support Group Meetings for 2008
Sept 23,2008
Perfect weather, a beautiful fall evening, and the rural setting of the Feld
Farm made for well attended gathering.
Karen got to demonstrate her tractor skills during the hayride
over the field and through the woods.  Many enjoyed visiting and feeding the
farm animals. The bonfire was the highlite of the evening as everyone enjoyed
roasting hot dogs, toasting marshmellows and great fellowship.

Survivors and caregivers discussed the frustrations of brain injury and the
difficulty in trying to regain some sort of normal living post accident. We
ended with a healthy dose of good humor and munched on chocolate chip cookies.

11 people gathered to learn about nutrition and how it affects the body.  Guest
speaker, Annette Cornelius, a Cultural Wellness Facilitator @ the Oneida Center, did a good job in explaining the difficult subject of body chemistry and how important diet is in keeping fit and healthy.  In regards to food additives, her comments was,
"
if you can't say it, don't eat it."

Eighteen people attended our meeting.  There was good discussion and lots of humor during the survivor intoductions and updates. It's always nice to learn that these
meetings are helpful in getting information and resource to people who are
new to brain injury.
