U.S. Government Experience (cont'd)

Assignments overseas with the U.S. Department of State included a leading assignment as an Assistant Regional Security Officer (ARSO) in a counterintelligence role at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow . I was awarded a Meritorious Honor Award by the U.S. Ambassador for conceptualizing the CI security measures needed for moving national security information from the old chancery (embassy building) to the new embassy building in Moscow . I also researched and prepared a written study entitled the “Zero Based Review” that focused on counterintelligence practices in use at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow .

While assigned to the Los Angeles Field Office (LAFO) with Diplomatic Security (three assignments 1987-1990, 1994-1996, and 2001-2002), I participated in numerous interagency functions and investigations with Immigrations, ATF, Customs, FBI, as well as the JTTF and liaison with numerous foreign consulates in the Los Angeles area. During 1994-1996, I was assigned as a foreign consulate liaison agent. I helped oversee the State Department's protective function with the Turkish Consul General in Los Angeles . I arranged security for numerous visiting dignitaries.

While assigned to LAFO, I interfaced on a regular basis with AUSA's in the U.S. Attorney's office in Los Angeles by preparing affidavit's and briefing AUSA's on criminal cases involving the illegal acquisition, use or application for U.S. passports and/or U.S visas. I have had to testify before the federal grand jury in the Central District on numerous occasions and appeared with criminal suspects before the federal magistrate.
