Razzlin Rick's Rapid Review - Minnesota Independent Wrestling
Chanhassen American Legion - 3/7/2009

What an excellent show. The room at the legion was packed to capacity and the fans were very vocal tonight. The show started promptly at 8PM and Tim Larson greeted the crowd. Tim introduced Austin Aries as a national wrestling star who was in the movie, The Wrestler. Aries was wearing sunglasses and you could tell how much he loves himself. He challenged anyone in the back to face him tonight in a special match. Corporal Julio Julio came to the ring. Aries acknowledged that Julio was one of his recent trainees. Aries said that Julio had to respect him. Julio said that he was accepting the challenge because he respected himself. The match was set for later in the evening.

1. The Black Stallion VS The Professional Benjamin Sailer. Usually you think the first match of the night is a throwaway but this was a top-notch opener. The match started and Sailer was taking it to the Stallion until he missed with a knee drop. Stallion planted a hard stomp into Sailers gut and he continued working the gut to weaken Sailer. The battle was fierce and Sailer surprised Stallion almost pinning him with a roll-up. Sailer landed an excellent dropkick and a leg-sweep to send Stallion to the mat. The end came when Sailer dove off the top rope, flipping the Black Stallion over and making the pinfall. The was an excellent match and afterwards Stallion argued with the ref that he had his shoulder UP at the two-count.

Mitch Paradise came to the ring all decked out in a light green shirt and tie with black slacks. Paradise compared MIW Champion Big Brody Hoofer to a dead, stinking, bloated cow in the middle of a hot summer. Paradise had Terry Fox and referee Rob Morrow come into the ring. He explained that this was the Mitch Paradise Show and HE was the reason all these people were here. If there was no Mitch Paradise, there would be no show. He said the belt is his and if he doesnt win tonight, he would never be coming back. Morrow left the ring and Paradise attacked Terry Fox, giving him a very hard body slam. Of course Big Brody Hoofer ran out for the save. (Later in the evening Terry Fox told me that Paradise didnt hold back and that body slam hurt.)

2. The Law Mark Barker VS The Genuine Article Chris Jordan. Barker came to the ring and the crowd was brutal yelling Kindergarten Cop. The start of the match was all Jordan. Chris worked on Barkers arm, hit a deadly dropkick, and when Barker was outside the ring, Jordan dove over the top rope onto his opponent. Back in the ring Jordan continued his assault with a hard arm drag. The Law finally got an advantage after a hard elbow to the back of Jordans head. Barker choked out Jordan on the ropes. Barker threw Jordan hard into the corner and the results was Jordan flipping over the top rope onto the floor. Jordan slowly recovered, got himself back into the ring, retaliated and got three near falls. After two hard clotheslines, Jordan climbed to the top rope and delivered a big elbow and won the pinfall.

3. Austin Aries VS Corporal Julio Julio. Here is the match - teacher vs. student. Austin Aries showed the cocky arrogance that he is known for. Aries gave Julio a chance to leave the ring early and avoid embarrassment but instead Julio delivered a couple arm drags and a dropkick to get Aries attention. Julio showed some great flying maneuvers and Austin Aries bailed from the ring. Once back in the ring Aries planted both his feet into Julios face and you could plainly see the mark on Julios head from that move. Aries threw Julio into the corner and hit a super loud chop. Aries applied a nerve hold to Julios shoulder. When Aries tried his trademark swinging elbow drop, he missed. Late in the match Julio tried a diving move off the ropes but his foot slipped and Aries laughed. After that Austin Aries was definitely the teacher and he showed Corporal Julio Julio how you win the match.

Intermission.

4. Playboy Pete Huge with Allison Wonderland VS The Popular Nate Bash. If you remember Nate Bash pinned Pete Huge in a tag-team contest last January 3rd. Huge vowed that would not happen again. In the beginning Pete kept pulling Bashs hair to get the advantage. After Nate Bash landed three arm drags, Pete bailed from the ring to get consolation from Allison Wonderland. Bash did a baseball slide into Huge and they fought outside the ring. Bash chased Allison around the outside of the ring and met a Huge clothesline on the floor for his efforts. Huge and Wonderland seemed pleased. Back in the ring Bash leaped off the top rope and landed a double-foot stomp on Pete. Huge nailed a hard clothesline and got a two-count. They double clotheslined each other for that rest spot. After recovering, Pete hit his G-Spot but only got a two-count. Nate fought back and it looked like he had Pete pinned, but Allison distracted the referee. Bash confronted Allison and it looked like he was going to hit her. Huge lunged at Bash, but Bash moved and Pete knocked Allison off the ring apron. Huge showed concern for Allison and Bash took Pete down and pinned him.

5. Main Event. MIW Heavyweight Championship Match. Mitch Paradise VS MIW Champion Big Brody Hoofer. The referee is American Legion Assistan Manager Rob Morrow. Mitch offered a handshake to start the match but Hoofer refused. Mitch slapped Hoofer and the match was on. Mitch choked Hoofer on the ropes. Mitch shoulder blocked Hoofer in the corner and chopped him. Hoofer returned with two hip tosses and a big body slam on Paradise. Hoofer clotheslined Paradise over the top rope to the floor. Mitch returned with a vengeance and tortured Hoofer. Mitch landed some loud chops. Hoofer managed a neck breaker. Then Hoofer attempted a dive off the second rope but Paradise just caught him and applied two sidebreakers. Paradise tried a pin attempt but the referee caught Paradise putting his feet on the ropes for leverage. Mitch climbed to the top rope and delivered a double sledge but only got a two-count. Hoofer caught his breath and landed a couple clotheslines for a two-count. Hoofer shoulder tackled Mitch for a two-count. There were many near falls. The Black Stallion ran in and distracted the referee during a Hoofer pinning attempt. The referee chased Stallion out of the room. In the meantime Pete Huge charged the ring with a chair and hit a LOUD chairshot to Hoofers head. (PennCentralFan was happy.) Paradise went for the pin and another referee ran to the ring to make a very fast 1-2-3. Mitch Paradise is your NEW MIW Heavyweight Champion. Terry Fox entered the ring and said it looked like Mitch had help winning that belt so a rematch would take place next month on April 18th. The show ended at 10:20PM.
