MIW News
Mitch Paradise and Rob Ivy face Genuine Article Chris Jordan and Horace the Psychopath in tag team action. Last month, Jordan was facing Ivy in a singles match. After the contest, Ivy and Paradise gave Jordan a savage beating until Jordan's friends' Horace the Psychopath and Venom came out off the crowd to make the save.
Promoter Terry Fox asked Jordan after the contest if he would like Paradise in singles action. Jordan demanded both Paradise and Ivy in a match and asked if Horace could be his tag partner. Fox agreed to the request.
In other action, Playboy Pete Huge faces K-Train. Last time, they were scheduled to meet, but the contest ended up getting scrapped as it turned into a mixed tag with K-Train and Ann Brookstone against Allison Wonderland and K-Train. Now the two will meet one on one for the first time in more than seven years.
Also in action: MIW champ Big Brody Hoofer, El Bano, The Law Mark Barker, Shimdog, Cpl Julio-Julio and much more.
Belltime is 8:30 p.m.
MIW insider summer dirt-sheet:
MIW used 32 different wrestlers in 2008. Through June 7, MIW has had 37 different wrestlers on its cards in 2009.
With nearly the first half of 2009 in the books, the stars of MIW have already had a busy year.
Mitch Paradise recently debuted a segment called Paradise’s Pit, which he claims is not a rip-off of Piper’s Pit. In the segment, Paradise “interviewed” Genuine Article Chris Jordan and midget Chad Strong.
MIW also featured women’s stars Ann Brookstone and Mystique in June. Could this mean a rebirth of consistent female stars in MIW?
The stars of MIW continue to receive top-notch bookings around the region. Here are some of the stars and notable opponents and matches in the last few months:
Paradise faced Bob “Hardcore” Holly and Scotty Too Hotty, while his top match was probably the title win over Big Brody Hoofer in Chanhassen.
Hoofer recently wrestled Jake the Snake Roberts and Billy Gunn. He was also in a tag match with Honky Tonk Man. Hoofer was able to take the MIW title back from Paradise in a dramatic match earlier this year.
Playboy Pete Huge had another shot at Hoofer’s belt, but was unable to pull it away. Hoofer looks to have mastered the challenge of long-time nemesis PPH. Is Playboy Pete Huge consumed too much by women today? He was recently in a mixed tag match along with Allison Wonderland against TNA star ODB. That probably isn’t the way back to title gold for him.
Black Stallion battled Honky Tonk Man. Stallion has had a couple of top matches in MIW with Hoofer and The Professional Ben Sailer.
Midwest Ground and Air (Ben Sailer and Nate Bash) remain the dominant tag team in Minnesota. They would be the leading contenders for the straps if MIW decides to rejuvenate its tag team division. In addition, Sailer is holding some singles gold. Nate Bash was able to capture the Northwoods cruiserweight strap in Hayward, Wisconsin.
Dysfunction recently traveled to the east coast to face Combat Zone Wrestling’s ultra violent champ, Danny Havoc, in the Tournament of Death. Those two battled for the first time in MIW earlier this year.
Canadian Destroyer Petey Williams recently faced two wrestlers who competed in MIW this year – Pimp Daddy Rick Mathews and Anarchist Arik Cannon.
Rob Stardom recently feuded with The Model Rick Martel in Steeltown Pro Wrestling. He also captured the Top Rope Championship Wrestling heavyweight title. Will Stardom come back to avenge his loss to Big Brody Hoofer?
Austin Aries, who defeated Cpl Julio Julio in MIW in March, recently won the Ring of Honor world title.
AJ Sanchez battled Sonjay Dutt up in Winnipeg. He was also in a triple threat match with Claudio Castagnoli.
Danny Duggan and Bobby Jay remain two of the busiest wrestlers in Canada.
Speaking of busy, MIW training camp graduate Cpl Julio Julio has wrestled for MIW, Northwoods Pro Wrestling, NLW, Sharkey Promotions, HOW, F1RST, IWA, ECHO Pro, PWM, Insane Championship Wrestling, Brew City Wrestling and Steeltown Pro Wrestling since graduating from camp last October. And camp mate and rival The Law Mark Barker isn’t far behind as he has wrestled for all but one of those offices. That has to rival the number of groups Mason Quinn worked in his first year out of camp.
Another road warrior of wrestling, Shimdog, completed a tour in California and Arizona along with Cooter Bocephus. Hoofer was able to escape the challenge of Shimdog a few months ago.
