Hi kids!! The internet is a wonderful tool that millions of people use everyday to communicate, do research, and have fun. We will use the internet in our classroom as a tool to enhance what we learn in class. There are so many websites that relate to the topics we will be discussing this year. I have listed the rules for using the internet properly and also some helpful tips and websites that may be useful to you. If you ever have any questions on using the internet always ask for help.

Rules for using the Internet
	The internet can only be used for class work and to learn about new things that we do in class. Treat the computers very gently. Do NOT try to break them in anyway! Share and take turns on the computer. If you do not follow the rules, you may not be allowed to use the internet in class.

Rules for E-mailing
	Be polite. Use appropriate language. - NO SWEARING - NO USING LANGUAGE THAT MIGHT HURT SOMEONE Do NOT give out your home address or phone number to anyone.

Tips for Searching on the Internet

Choose a search engine. Some search engine links appear below.
Use a keyword or words that describes what you are looking for.
Put your keywords in quotation marks ("").
Use a + symbol between words to make sure the search engine finds all of the words you have entered. Example: winter + Olympics
Use a - symbol between words when you want the search engine to find one word, but not another word. Example: star trek - voyager
