with as many forms of the word "play" as they can. |

Procedures: |
|
-
We will
look at the different forms and the different meanings of the word play.
-
I will focus on
the word "playful." I will ask students if they know what the "ful" is at the end
of the word?
-
Next, I will
explain to the students what a suffix is and their uses. I will ask the
students to think of other suffixes quietly to themselves.

I will
then have students get
into groups and come up with as many words they can that end in the suffix "ful"
-
They will then place
their lists on the petals of the "powerful flower"
-
Finally, I will go over
some popular phrases with the word play and ask the students if they know what
they mean:

Future Priorities for Learning: |

Today we learned our new
vocabulary word "play" and the uses of suffixes. Tomorrow we
will discuss our
next word of the week, "toward." |

I will evaluate the
students based on their team efforts to collaborate and work cooperatively
together to come up with new words. Their final evaluation of the
definition and spelling of "play" will be on their spelling exam.
