ultimate double chocolate
brownies

INGREDIENTS

cocoa |

3/4 cup |

baking soda |
|
1/2 tsp |
|
|
butter |
|
2/3 cup,
melted and divided |
|
|
boiling water |
|
1/2 cup |
|
|
sugar |
|
2 cups |
|
|
eggs |
|
2 |
|
|
flour |
|
1 1/3 cups |
|
|
vanilla |
|
1 tsp |
|
|
pecans |
|
1/2 cup,
coarsely chopped |
|
|
semi-sweet chocolate chunks |
|
2 cups |
|
METHOD
-
in a large bowl,
combine cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup melted butter
-
add boiling water,
stir until blended
-
stir in eggs and
sugar and remaining butter
-
add flour, vanilla
and salt
-
stir in pecans and
chocolate chunks
-
pour into a greased
13x9x2 baking pan
-
bake at 350 degrees
for 35-40 minutes
NOTES
-
be careful not to
overbake. As a rule, brownies shouldn't test completely "done"
when you get them out of the oven. They should just be baked
around the edges and slightly firm in the center

i did ice these
once, but thought it made them too sweet. They are sweet
enough on their own!
