ultimate double chocolate

INGREDIENTS
| cocoa | 3/4 cup | ||
| baking soda | 1/2 tsp | ||
| butter | 2/3 cup, melted and divided | ||
| boiling water | 1/2 cup | ||
| sugar | 2 cups | ||
| eggs | 2 | ||
| flour | 1 1/3 cups | ||
| vanilla | 1 tsp | ||
| pecans | 1/2 cup, coarsely chopped | ||
| semi-sweet chocolate chunks | 2 cups |
METHOD
in a large bowl, combine cocoa and baking soda; blend in 1/3 cup melted butter
add boiling water, stir until blended
stir in eggs and sugar and remaining butter
add flour, vanilla and salt
stir in pecans and chocolate chunks
pour into a greased 13x9x2 baking pan
bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes
NOTES
be careful not to overbake. As a rule, brownies shouldn't test completely "done" when you get them out of the oven. They should just be baked around the edges and slightly firm in the center
i did ice these once, but thought it made them too sweet. They are sweet enough on their own!
