HELLO!!

I am Miriam Grech and I'm twenty-nine years old. I come from Malta, I am from Zejtun but I live in M'Xlokk. Teaching has always been my passion and so I decided to follow a B.Ed (Hons) course at the University of Malta. In 1995  I graduated as a teacher and I am currently teaching at M'Xlokk primary school. The recent developments in the field of ICT in Education led me to attend University once more and to follow a Diploma course in ICT in Education. This because, as a teacher, I am much concerned about creating a classroom environment for my students where they can develop not only educationally but also socially, psychologically etc. Thus, I try to adopt new strategies and use various educational tools so as to enrich my teaching and make learning more effective.

Recently, computers were introduced in our school and, as far as I'm concerned, these are proving to be a valuable teaching and learning tool. Computers have been in my classroom for three years now and with the help of such a tool, I can create rich and varied opportunities to stimulate my students' educational development. I strongly believe that the effective use of ICT in the classroom offers various opportunities for invigorating teaching and learning. And thus for me, integrating ICT in my teaching is a must!

When children are part of such a learning enviroment, they can create wonderful things! Children can search for information on the Internet, analyze that information and formulate hypothesis, enter records in databases, represent their findings through graphs, presentations, pictures, charts etc. The possibilities are infinite!
I've tried some of these with my class and the results were uploaded on this website. This is another thing I strongly believe in - giving children the opportunity to experience authorship. Children need audiences other than the teacher and themselves. They will experience a sense of pride when they see their work appreciated not only by their teacher and friends at school but also by other children in their own country and moreover by other people around the world. When children are given this opportunity, they can look forward to one of the greatest reward of creating a piece of work - finding out how their work affects other people.
But the greatest reward for me as a teacher is watching children's astonishment as they see their work uploaded on their class website. For me, the gleam in their eyes is the greatest reward of all!!!

For me, it's also rewarding to see that both the efforts children put in creating the material for this website and my efforts in creating and maintaining the website are appreciated by many people around the world.

Infact, this website is listed on the major search engines (yahoo, google etc.) and some other educational sites like:

It is also listed on some Maltese local sites such as:

There are also a couple of my articles, regarding our class projects, which were published on the following educational sites:
