| This year, the class is participating in the Flat Stanley Project. You may ask yourself "But what is this project all about? Well, the project is about a book written by Jeff Brown- Flat Stanley. This book narrates the story of a boy called Stanley who was squashed by a bulletin board whilst he was comfortably sleeping in bed. In the morning, his family realised that Stanley had become flat and that he could now pass underneath doors, travel in envelopes etc. Infact, it is here that the project starts. Every class participating in the project reads the book and draws her own Flat Stanley. Children then send their Flat Stanley to other schools around the world on school visits, at home etc. Then, after this period of time, Flat Stanley returns back home full of pictures, souveniers, photos and information about the place he visited. As you can see from the pictures below, our class is having lots of fun particpating in this project. We have a class journal which we send along with our Flat Stanley so that we can keep a record of where Stanley has been. We also have a world map on which we mark, with their repsective flag, the places Stanley visited. This way, we are learning a lot about the culture of other children, foreign countries etc. If you would like to know more about this project just click on Flat Stanley. |

| Above you can see our Flat Stanley. He stays with us all day (when he is not abroad visiting his friends) and he is learning quite a lot of interesting things. When his friends from abroad visit him, they all stay together with us in class. One of the children, Gary, has also designed a luggage specifically for Flat Stanley with all the necessary things for his voyages. Flat Stanley has also his personal board in class. It is here that we keep letters, photos and pictures sent to us from our friends abroad. As you can see from the photo, the board is full of letters from friends who were so pleased to learn more about our island that they wrote us back and sent us pictures of their own country. This way, children are learning a little bit of Geography too! |
