On February 13th, Betty & I were invited to speak with CHECCS,
a local home schooling group about Binky Patrol. It was a wonderful
opportunity to meet these extraordinary women. Many of them who are
avid quitters or crocheters are very eager to help create blankets for
children in our community.
We have already
been contacted by a few members who were able to inform us of children
in need of comfort. Welcome to these special women and thank you for joining
our mission of comforting children in our community.
On February
18th, Betty & I made a presentation to members of the First United
Presbyterian Church in Alliance. Not only were we invited to speak
about Binky Patrol, we were given very exciting news: The members of the
congregation are taking Binky Patrol on as a year long project called "Year
of the Child". We will be invited back to their church in December
where we will be presented the binkies made throughout the year!
The Church
made a donation of $25 and presented us with a very special gift - A book
called The Quiltmaker's Gift by Jeff Brumbeau and Gail de Marcken.
I encourage everyone to read this delightful book.
"It is the
story of a generous quiltmaker, with magic in her fingers, sews the most
beautiful quilts in the world, then gives them away. A greedy king,
his storehouse stuffed with treasures, yearns for something that will make
him happy... Can the quiltmaker teach the king to be happy?" If anyone
would like to borrow our copy, please contact Brandy.
The entire
Sunday service was based on Binky Patrol's mission. It was a very
special experience. Thank you!
Thank you to
both the CKECCS home schooling group and the United Presbyterian Church
for joining our cause and helping to comfort the children in our community!
