Fa'elon Lirnaan grew up in the house of a fairly wealthy and respected Grilki family. Unfortunately, his immediate family were worshippers of an evil god. They kept this worship secret from the rest of their community for obvious reasons, and even publicly boasted of their ancestral ties to the notoriously good Grilki hero, Elon Lirnaan. This is who Fa'elon was clearly named after, and the name seems to have imbued in him some of the same willfulness and good. Fe'elon is willful even for a Grilki, and could never wrap his mind around the hypocrisy of his parents' actions.

These feelings were magnified by Fa'elon's contact with Renar Gladharp, a somewhat famous bard and entertainer. Renar traveled extensively and was even somewhat welcome inside the Grilki community because of his prodigious talents in the realm of performing, despite the fact that he was human. As Fa'elon grew up he would see Renar when he was in the area, always loving to hear the stories and the music. Renar, feeling a coming close to his long career, made a point of coming back often, feeling a close kinship and likeness in the young Grilki. Almost unthinkingly, Renar encouraged Fa'elon to get out and see the world for himself. Fa'elon never acted much on it, even though he always thought it sounded like a good idea. Only after Renar passed on did it really hit Fa'elon.

Renar left his Master's Harp to Fa'elon, and with the harp, some clothes on his back, and what money he could steal from his now hated parents Fa'elon caught the first ship he could to Cyvaethine. He hopes to see what he can of the world and continue Renar's legacy. Deep within, he harbors the hope that he might perhaps be able to build his own legacy...
