Words From My Heart

In the space between sleep and dreams
I tumbled, lost in the empty existence
that fell like a black mist,
smothering my inner emotions
and robbing the sweet breath from my soul.

In the darkness came a vision of you
which turned my night into day.
For the sun rose,
spreading wide beams of vivid golden light
to penetrate the hardened shell,
softening my heart and releasing
flows of precious fluid,
running love and tender kisses
across the miles.

The thunder of wild horse hooves
cannot match the pounding of heart beats,
nor the beating of a thousand dove wings
unable to drown the sounds
which are drawn from within my depths.
For carried on the gentle winds
these drift, directed to you to be caught,
held fast in your arms embrace
or forever lost in the sea of tomorrow.
