Rosebud

  There lay upon the table
a rosebud pink and pure,
You'd picked it from the garden
just for me, I'm sure.
So from the shelf I took
a lovely crystal vase,
To stand my tiny rosebud
I hoped for many days.
But as I turned and looked
at the gift you'd given me,
My life forever changed
with happy thoughts to be.
The bud began to unfold
right before my eyes,
Slightly stretching open
gentle, pink and prized.
One by one each petal
encased the fragrant bloom,
Just like the mass of treasure
released of it's perfume.
It's just begun to show me
what will unfold in time,
Like the treasure of your love
knowing that it's mine.
