The End Times

According to the book of Revelation of the Holy Bible, our world is going to come to an apocalyptic end. At which time the living and the dead will be judged individually according to the merit of their lives. Based on that judgment, the good will be rewarded with eternal paradise in Heaven, and the bad will suffer unending torment in Hell.

For the past 2,000 years, every time a large war breaks out, or a major disaster strikes, the religious panic and proclaim that Armageddon is upon us. However, after reading the book of Revelation it becomes quite apparent that these people aren't nearly as religious as they claim to be. For Revelation clearly details the events of the end times in no uncertain terms.

According to Revelation, the Earth's destruction will unfold in three basic stages.

Stage one is unparalleled global warfare.

The destruction in stage two is the result of global pollution. This includes the consequences of a depleted ozone layer, famine, plagues, pestilence, water contamination, etc.

Stage three is a succession of worldwide natural disasters, which includes massive earthquakes, floods, volcanic eruptions, and culminates in the bombardment of Earth by comets, asteroids, and/or meteors.

When asked by his disciples when these things will happen, Jesus responded, "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come."

Although the world seems to be in the midst of these apocalyptic stages today, it is not yet time to be alarmed. As unfathomable as it may seem, our world is not in nearly as bad a shape as it can get. And so, the end is still ahead of us.

The book of Revelation gives us a very detailed description of the events leading up to Judgment Day. It will be a magical time, a time of great miracles. It is highly unlikely that anyone, Christian or not, will be caught off guard.

The first unmistakable miracle will be the two prophets. These two men, clothed in sackcloth, will prophesy for 1,260 days. No one will be able to harm them during this time, and anyone who tries to harm them will be consumed by fire. These two prophets will have supernatural powers. They can stop the rain, turn the waters into blood, and strike the Earth with plagues.

At the end of their 1,260 days of prophesy, the two prophets will be killed. Their bodies will be dragged through the streets of the city where Jesus was crucified. The people of the world will rejoice at the deaths of the two prophets and refuse to bury their bodies.

However, three and a half days later the two prophets will come back to life. They will be lifted up in a cloud as the people look on in terror. At that moment, an earthquake will strike and destroy a tenth of the city, killing 7,000.
