"Logic is the beginning of wisdom; not the end." --Spock Star Trek VI Final Frontier

I have a better understanding of the portfolio process and the fact that the portfolio becomes part of the life-long learning quest. We learn from every facet of life, but we do not know what we have learned until we process the information and put it into words. I do not know if a portfolio can ever be finished. As thoughts occur the portfolio is tweaked and added to.  For the moment, this is my portfolio. I continue to explore who I am and what my learning, personality and teaching styles are.

There are many tools available although I had completed the Strenghsfinders as part of the Fairmont learning process I recently purchased the new book Strengthsfinder 2.0.  I completed the online self assessment and was not surprised to see Learner at the top of my five strengths. The others are Intellection, Strategic, Input and Achiever and the excerpt from http://sf2.strengthsfinder.com/reports/short/pdf.aspx is below.

LEARNER   People who are especially talented in the Learner theme have a great desire to learn and want to continuously improve. In particular, the process of learning, rather than the outcome, excites them.

You love to gather all kinds of information. This explains why you take time to grasp ideas that appear in print. Driven by your talents, you traditionally bring an upbeat perspective to instruction, training, or tutoring. You probably regard education as one of the essential elements of a well-lived life.

INTELLECTION   People who are especially talented in the Intellection theme are characterized by their intellectual activity. They are introspective and appreciate intellectual discussions.

You weigh the consequences of what you do, fail to do, and say. Your precision becomes apparent when you concentrate on small, factual details. You are also known for adhering to prescribed policies, procedures, standards, or specifications.

STRATEGIC   People who are especially talented in the Strategic theme create alternative ways to proceed. Faced with any given scenario, they can quickly spot the relevant patterns and issues.

You make sense out of seemingly unrelated information. Instinctively, you might easily detect unusual configurations or spot new trends in data or factual information. You listen. You quiz people. You read. The more you reflect on what you know, the more problems begin to reveal themselves, and eventually solutions start taking shape in your mind.

INPUT   People who are especially talented in the Input theme have a craving to know more. Often they like to collect and archive all kinds of information.

By nature, you may approach your studies or work with dignity and in a businesslike manner. You read written materials because you want to, not because you have to. In the process, you naturally accumulate lots of facts, data, information, background, or insights about various subjects or favorite topics.

ACHIEVER   People who are especially talented in the Achiever theme have a great deal of stamina and work hard. They take great satisfaction from being busy and productive.

By nature, you can mentally zero in on tasks for hours at a time when you have a goal to reach. Instinctively, you often catch yourself working hard to ease the anxieties of others.
